  • I explained FIFA to my wife recently by saying, “They could replace their existing board members (as needed, of course) with known, convicted, avowed pedophiles, violent ones, even; and the planet would still tune into the World Cup in droves. They already despise FIFA, so not much would change.”

  • Intel is starting to show some fight too. Not much, but the B70 isn’t a bad offering for the right use case.

Problem is NVIDIA has a complete stack on offer. Hardware (all the HW, not just the GPUs), networking and software stack are all tightly integrated. They didn’t do it overnight - they bought Mellanox awhile back, and Cumulus a little after that. That got them Infiniband & Ethernet products. It’s pretty impressive, and it’s a pretty big hill for the competition to compete with. Still, there’s hope.

  • Thinking Thunberg is the antichrist while overlooking the spray-tanned obvious.

  • If you want something done right...

  • I'm not actually blaming voters, though I can see how I came off that way (I do, however blame the ones who voted for Trump anytime after 2016 - people make mistakes). They haven't had much choice, where health care is concerned. The probably falls under the "both sides" argument in that neither party is willing to phase out, or significantly reduce, private health insurance in this country. For sure, there are a handful of Dems, and the odd unicorn Rep, who understand that single-payer is likely to be more cost effective at delivering consistent care. It also doesn't help that the Republicans have gone off the deep end in the past couple decades. Makes it unlikely that anything will change in my lifetime. One of the main reasons I don't plan on staying after retirement.

  • They've voted for it every single time they've voted for a Republican or most Democrats since at least the 1950s or 60s.

Also don't forget that the second highest (at the time) number of Americans in history voted for it another time in 2020. Fortunately the highest ever number voted for the other guy (who also didn't want to fix the problem, but at least didn't want this!).

  • I mean he said he wouldn’t do it, so we can really only blame ourselves, right?

  • I opposed childhood gender transitions, unlawful and divisive DEI mandates, and the excesses of Critical Race Theory. I argued against biological males competing in women’s sports and being housed in women’s prisons.

“I stupidly, and wholeheartedly bought into Conservative media talking points. While I still hold these nonsensical positions, I don’t like that the bigots I aligned myself with me were honest in their hatred of me and those like me. You should feel sorry for me.”

    FTFY. Also, fuck off.

  • Wonderful likeness. I know I might seriously injure myself if I were to punch it in the face… But I still want to punch it in the face.

  • Fantastic idea!

  • This is pretty much it. Communal areas have a TV where I’ve gotten the biggest TV with the best(-ish) quality I can get. If I gamed, same would be true for that display. Those get the heaviest use by the most people. Everywhere else I’ll probably get something passable that’s big enough for me to read subtitles on. But for most of those spaces I’ll use a tablet or Vision Pro.

  • I love it when the occasional person comes through arguing that we should just get rid of time zones so it’s the same time everywhere. Always a fun discussion.

  • Postmodern Jukebox’s version of We Can’t Stop.

Their version of Take Me to Church is pretty good, too. Not the the original was bad, but Morgan James just takes it to another level. If you find a live version where it’s just her and a pianist, it’s pretty impressive. Got to see it live awhile back and had chills.

  • Seven or eight?

I got curious and asked the Sky Brain about this. It got a little “Clinton-esque.”

  • If it's about pedophiles sharing stuff with each other, they'll never be able to stop that.

I mean they can’t stop it entirely, but the could do some things… Like invest in mental healthcare to understand and combat such social problems, but just passing laws is so much easier.

  • Yep. iOS spellcheck really is shit.

  • Quit tempting fate!

  • Wasn’t sure if you meant that or “Over the Edge” from 1979. Can’t remember if HOA specifically was the Bad Guy, but it was kids vs The Man.

  • Mr Frankenstein’s blog helped me out early on. I also found a write up that dovetailed into it using dockerproxy & swag instead of traefik or caddy. Unfortunately, I don’t have those links handy. Should be able to search for the first one pretty easily, though.
