  • what's the craziest weather you've experienced?

  • Not the worst, but the weirdest happened while I was fishing in Minnesota. We were in a boat on an empty lake. It was a bright clear day without a could in the sky. While we fished we watched a single small black cloud blow over the lake. As we watched, this little lone angry cloud homed in right for our boat. Just before it passed over us, it started dumping rain. It wasn't more than 100ft wide, but it passed right over us. After that the cloud dissipated and blew away. The weather was totally clear the rest of the day. It was the most personalized storm ever.

  • What sounds far fetched is that nobody has told. There were plenty of people who tried to tell about Epstein. There are thousands of pages of evidence. There is zero evidence of a conspiracy for the Dems to be a controlled opposition. There are zero whistle lowers. Zero leaked emails. It's just not real.

  • None of those things are what define fascism. Fascism at its core is defined by the destruction of democratic representation and the rule of law. Without those any other issue you personally care about cannot be addressed.

    So yes, the SAVE act is fascism because it erodes voting rights. Mark Wayne Mullen threatening to send federal agents to polling places is fascism for the same reason. ICE agents assaulting and killing people with no legal recourse against them is fascism because it erodes the rule of law as does Trump signing blatantly unconstitutional executive orders or defying judicial orders are fascism.

    The environment and healthcare are important. I got my degree in environmental science for fucks sake. I understand that they are existential threats. But the threat of fascism will kill us first if we don't smash it with maximum force now.

  • We can't afford purity tests in an existential fight. It doesn't matter where they stand on economic policies, healthcare, the environment, Israel, or whatever. All that matters is if they will directly fight against the current fascists in power.

  • The slavery thing is just an example. It's a tyranny of the majority thing inherent to pure democracy. Hayek's statement is right standing by itself. If he was alluding to a democratic society electing to be socialist when he was talking about a democratic government lacking liberalism, he is wrong. But that is to be expected from an economist. Most would rather give up democracy than capitalism.

  • He is right in the sense that there can be a benevolent dictator like Cinncinnatus who famously was made dictator, saved Rome from an invading army, and retired back to his farm after 16 days. At the same time a liberal democracy can vote that a minority ethnic group should all become slaves.
