  • Could you link to a study about this? Fire hawks even intentionally using fire is so new to western science that it’s surprising to me to already assign that to them.

  • Since you apparently know what I was posting and my intent far better than I do I don’t see a reason to continue the conversation. Have a day 👋

  • Fuck me for asking if you were intentionally implying poor people are stupid.

  • Locked

    hmm

    Jump
  • I wouldn’t even know it existed if dudes weren’t constantly raging about it.

  • Is ‘poor people are poor because they’re stupid’ really the message you want to put out?

  • That article is about the destruction humans do, not fire hawks. Some landscapes benefit from the spread of fire (fire has been part of the ecosystem of Australia for tens of thousands of years), and I’m not aware of any research that shows fire hawks cause environmental destruction at a level remotely near what humans cause.

  • Once again, all of California isn’t a desert. Most of California isn’t a desert. The Central Valley, where most of the world’s almonds are grown isn’t a desert. The way water is used in California is fucked, but almonds in particular aren’t the worst offender (why does anyone care about food people can eat when we’re exporting fucking alfalfa?).

  • What part of what they’re doing do you believe allows for Axon but not Flock devices to be installed? The proposed legislation is about ALPRs, facial recognition, or other biometrics for mass surveillance. It doesn’t specify only flock cameras.

  • Needs at least one more cooking to complete the carbonization, I see colors other than black and gray.

  • Coordinate systems existed before GPS.

  • Seeing this as a conspiracy against Linux users and not just patching badly written state level legislation is tin hat territory. If I’m not on the internet and using Linux in 2036 then I’m dead, and it’s not because I starved in the street after being unable to access my bank account on a Linux.

  • No, you have to panic now! They’re locking Linux users out of life for vague, unstated reasons!!

  • Yeah, do NOT plant stuff you intend to eat in your yard without testing the soil first, people. The stuff we put on crops and that we dig out of the ground is shockingly toxic and persistent. Sunflowers are a great way to remediate the soil, although you may need multiple years of planting and disposal.

  • That’s interesting! I’ve only seen ones that speak, I’ll have to keep an eye out to see if there are any with tactile indicators near me.

  • Is that even a concern for people with celiac disease? I know you’re not supposed to spend a lot of time in a bakery just because of airborne flour, but how much fucking gluten were they putting in detergent to begin with??

  • You said what's healthy but that is so incredibly subjective I don't know why you'd even bother writing it

Maybe I’m fucking crazy but I’d say dietitians know enough to determine whether or not juice has a nutritional value similar to soda or not, ie, how healthy it is. Are you seriously so checked out that you think it’s not possible to tell if food is good to eat or not?

You could find a dietitian to say you shouldn't eat basically everything.

Are you sure you aren’t confusing dietitians and nutritionists?

  • The sugar in soda contains fructose (it is in fact 50% fructose). Soda with HFCS isn’t actually that much higher in fructose than plain sugar soda, ironically; the ‘high’ just means ‘higher than white sugar’.
