  • Perhaps a second laser defense system can be installed to ensure people stay out of the original room?

  • Could run it similar to those disinfecting light bulbs (only when the room is not occupied)

  • You’re about 7 comments deep on this post and what, just refreshing to make sure you have the opportunity to correct the record with people who aren’t even replying to you?

Like I said I am referring to the HN discussion that was linked, go take it up with them if you’re in the mood to proselytize. Or go take it up with the many researches who have confirmed creatine’s borderline uselessness. There’s actually a post in my recent comment history w/ a meta analysis link if you want to go check it out. Do me a favor and make a top level comment somewhere else if you want to respond to it, based on your behavior in this thread I’m not interested in discussing it with you personally

  • The comments section on hacker news already has some rundowns, generally it looks low quality and then the reporting is taking unwarranted liberties on top of it. The supplement industry is desperate to get people to buy this dumb powder since it costs pennies to produce.

The funniest thing to me about the recent push to convince people to take it for their brain health is that they’re recommending 25+ grams a day for it, which is five times the standard recommendation. That’s the world we’re heading towards, paying $60 a month for your subscription to “higher cognitive functioning” based on studies that didn’t even have a placebo group lol

  • What if I’m in-office dev?

  • I don’t know the exact mechanisms at play that make it necessary, but they sell the additive at automotive stores!

  • Asbestos is already in all the buildings, we can’t remove it. All the cars already require leaded gasoline, we can’t unlead it.

Fun fact I didn’t know until recently: if you have a classic car that requires leaded gasoline, they actually sell lead substitute that you mix with modern unleaded gas

  • Video games

Had a huge crash around the Atari era due to an overwhelming amount of shovelware being published. Games were also extremely expensive then

Nintendo famously reversed this crisis with the introduction of the NES and their “Nintendo seal of quality”. Consumers were able to access a curated collection of quality games, and it really turned things around and basically launched the modern gaming industry

  • Basic searches haven’t been working well for me either lately. I tried running the query through a basic AI-First Conversational Agentic Experience but it just keeps saying to stay where I am and that the police are on the way? Weird

  • Beautiful rundown. For my comparatively worthless 2 cents, pretty much everyone I know has extremely strong negative opinions of doordash for much the same reasons you covered. Another factor I hear is people got hooked on it during covid and got financially burned and grew resentful of it after that

  • Gotcha, yeah I can appreciate insisting on higher evidentiary standards

  • Why omit “using” from your summary at the end there? They wrote a whole article about how they love using AI and think anyone who doesn’t is comparatively unproductive. In fact they have over a dozen articles about adjacent AI topics. It’s not really a weak connection at all it’s literally just them saying they do the thing lol

Regardless, the blog itself actually has an AI disclosure: “I use AI heavily on this blog”. Followed by another article about how it is used “correctly” in this case. If you’re just in the mood to argue or whatever I guess we can debate the specific definitions and nuances between literally just copying a whole article from AI output (which they emphatically say they do not do) vs passing your writing through AI to assist you throughout the process

  • Well, one of the first linked articles is them talking about how much they love using it and how fun it is and how everyone should be using it

  • I get what you’re saying but not every person needs to be working on the same cause. Even if we did that, America would be pretty far down the list compared to other places at the moment

But thankfully we do have tons of projects going that are run by people who care a lot about that particular thing and feel engaged in it. Sometimes that’s forest conservation, sometimes that’s renewable energy, sometimes that’s human welfare, this time it’s shrimp welfare. And who knows, maybe this concept with the shrimp will give someone pause and actually motivate them to do some of their own unique good for the world

  • Could I pay them to keep it undelivered?

  • A lot of men “learn” about sex via porn and later act out things they saw, even if it’s inconsiderate of their partner

To be clear, this is not a new problem caused by AI but I’m not excited about how AI will be interacting with the problem

  • The apps are advertising that they can do this tho. Many of them are aggressively sponsoring YouTubers who advertise you can basically just wave your phone over the food and it takes away all the “work” from traditional calorie counting apps

  • Removed

    little take

    Jump
  • My guess is this is a mythos post

So it “attacks” by seeking vulnerabilities in your code

But using ai to patch those problems will create worse problems (is how the post is reading to me)

  • Okay, so we should be distrustful of pizzacake in general because her work is popular and relevant to a country she lives 75 miles away from. And this is not fallacious.

But when it comes to literal self proclaimed white supremacists who makes comics where the punchline is “n____”, we have to give each and every argument they make the benefit of the doubt because ultimately someone’s credibility in general cannot ever be used to judge their stance on individual topics?

Edit: so bro posts open and self admitted nazi propaganda and instantly blocks anyone who thinks that isn’t totally irrelevant. Curious
