    As I reread my initial message and the many relaxed and positive replies from others, I feel like what I’m saying is clearly very different from your summary, which is what makes me believe we are experiencing some type of linguistic disconnect

  • Doesn’t need to be proper! I use queer as well, it’s widely used in my in-person community. I tend to avoid using “queer” online sometimes just because it seems like it can still be a heavy word in other places, but it also seems like I’m seeing it used more often anyway

    In practice I feel like it’s a romantic quality, i.e. “since we are both non-binary, I feel we understand each other and I feel especially safe with you, and in fact this type of relationship is the only one I would want”,

    I suppose in this manner you could easily be a gay demisexual enbie, but I wonder of the larger cohort of people who experience a more immediate sexual attraction

    Again, not that it’s important to have this all ironed out neatly. I just feel like it hasn’t been ironed out neatly, you know?

  • Hey as long as we’ve got experts here, could a purely non binary person be considered gay or heterosexual in any configuration or are they always bisexual? Even if only as a limitation of the language?

    To elaborate on that I am nonbinary and bisexual myself and without missing a beat it’s like every non-binary person I meet is also bisexual. And that’s all good and all feels very natural, and nobody should feel pressured to be anything else

    But like, if I was trying to not be bisexual, what would that look that? Would I just start listing specific preferences and the orientation just wouldn’t have a particular name?

  • And there’s a million and one different reasons why the context behind a piece causes someone to dislike it even if they initially liked it. It works the other way too, if you like something and you find out it had a cool story behind it, lots of people will like it even more.

    I don’t think you’re a bot or anything, but I’m intrigued. Genuinely, what’s your motivation? If you’re so satisfied and confident with AI why not just go and enjoy the many fulfilling hobbies and the rewarding technical job that you brag about? If I had invested in google early on like you claim this situation is identical to, I’d be super chilled out about it instead of preemptively gloating and proclaiming that I was “obviously correct”.

    It’s been a remarkable thing to be threatened, for years now, to be “left behind” by people who never seem to be able to leave. Really, why not just go? What’s holding you back? Is your super useful weather app not raking in enough money? Can’t you easily make like ten apps a day? Nobody’s ever been able to explain to me where all this supposed “obvious” usefulness is actually being applied. You all just appear to be totally stuck in the mud

  • Insane story. Great time to get into it as updates are happening rapidly.

    A used lego reseller (not directly affiliated with the lego corporation) named Bricks and Minifigs stole $200,000 from a dying elderly man.

    A youtuber named Reckless Ben got involved to try and help the family out. But the CEO of BAM called the police on him and lied to the police repeatedly, saying Ben was threatening to hurt him and threatening to burn the store down. He called police in Ben’s home state pretending to be Ben and made false bomb threats. He broke his own window and said Ben hired a sniper to try and assassinate him. This is barely the half of it. Ended up getting him arrested multiple times.

    All on camera and 100% proven false, but the crazy thing is the CEO is Mormon, along with the entire police department (BAM is in Utah, which is essentially controlled by a Mormon mafia). So in all the bodycam footage released (that they were illegally withholding, but has all come out now) it’s completely plain as day that they’re all actively conspiring together to cover for their fellow Mormons.

    Anyway, as part of their attempt to lock this innocent kid in jail for the rest of his life over literally nothing, they sent a legal order to Patreon demanding they shut down Ben’s page. To which the CEO of patreon publicly responded “we’re keeping his page up. If you don’t like it, sue us.”

    This article reads like yet another sensationalist advertisement for ai. How many people have supposedly now gained the ability to “breach dozens of companies” simply by typing “please” into a text box? Hundreds of millions? How is society still functioning if this is going on?
