  • Science fiction is one genre that just doesn't translate well to the screen. The ideas are too big for a budget and too alien to be adequately depicted. I'm grateful that one man is capable of making twenty hours worth of content in less than a year; it's more sustainable than millions of dollars being spent on two hours of entertainment.

  • At this point the countries in temperate climates would seal their borders. The people living near the equator will become stuck, dependent on the the richer nations for their very survival. Once the effects of global warming began creeping up toward the United States and Europe, we will use our superior firepower to force an oil embargo on weaker nations.

    It's going to be fucked up and evil, but it's unlikely to be uniformly bad for everyone. From an economic perspective, alot of people will benefit.

  • Personally, I think food is cheap enough. I spend roughly 5% percent of my paycheck on food, and I am not eating like a pauper. If safer food and happier chickens meant I needed to spend 6% of my paycheck on food, then so be it.

  • I agree that it's not fair to compare Michael Jackson to Epstein. Although both engaged in illegal activities, a 16 year old at least has the ability to say, "No, I will not give you a handjob for $200." The seven and eight year olds Michael abused didn't have the ability to walk away.

    It's similar to murder charges. Although a highschooler is legally a child, they are still culpable enough for their actions to be tried as an adult. The children Michael targeted would not. The worse part of this situation is that parents voluntarily gave him their children. They should have been tried and investigated.

  • It makes sense that they are reluctant to make investments. Building new data centers will presumably require more new RAM units then maintaining those that are already in existence. The large influx of new infrastructure is a temporary condition.

    Regardless, a quick Google search indicates that about a half a trillion dollars has recently been spent on building new foundries in the United States. Since the release of ChatGPT in late 2022 coincides with the spike in demand, we are only just at the point where these investments could come into fruition.

  • If Democrats rescheduled marijuana, they wouldn't be able to use the issue to win future elections. I love how Biden waited until last minute to demand the rescheduling of marijuana. If he had done it any sooner, his attempt might have been successful.
