  • Sounds like someone bullshitted their way through school to get a technical degree, not realizing that their bullshitting depended on the person they were bullshitting not being good or confident with technology, which gets rarer when you go into a technical career.

  • Haha I have also done an interview where the person had a friend in the room feeding them answers, though this one must have assumed his mic was worse than it was and didn't mute at all, so we could hear the mumbling of answers. To make it even funnier, though, their friend wouldn't have gotten hired either because none of their answers were good.

    I kinda wanted to tell them they should find a smarter friend to help them cheat at interviews but instead just thanked them for their time and ended the interview.

    Though tbh, I wasn't really impressed by any of the new grads from the schools we were looking at. Some of them made me wonder if they learned anything at all about software development during their time at school.

  • Do you know the reverse grip trick that lets you use rightie scissors with your left hand anyways?

    It's mostly useful for small cuts because it's also awkward, but it will cut instead of bend.

    It works because your thumb and fingers apply sideways force that pushes the cutting blades together if the scissors match the hand or apart if they don't, but reversing the grip (as in having the blades on your palm side instead of pointing away from you) reverses the forces they apply.

  • Ironically, LLMs are pretty good for helping optimize non-LLM workflows. Brainstorming a list of things that already exist is something they do well. And even if they hallucinate some entries, just move on to the next one. And having them help with one time setup or debugging specific issues is way more efficient than having a workflow that involves them regularly.

  • Yeah, I gotta say that while shit is looking pretty bad on the corporate producer side of things, this society/system has bred a ton of entitled consumers that think their desires are important to anyone that can make or do things.

    Even if you're paying someone for something, that doesn't mean you can dictate what they do or how they do it. Or even that they need to offer you what they willingly offer others. There's some people where no amount of money would make dealing with them worthwhile, let alone what they are willing to pay for special treatment.

    But with FOSS, there isn't even the incentive of money greasing the interaction. It's just pure entitlement. No one owes you anything just because you're interested in their project or skills.

  • Oh my bad, I see now that the "they" in my comment is ambiguous. I meant "they" as in the current administration and those backing it, not the DNC old guard.

    Like progressives taking over the Democrats would be great but I doubt the current admin will go along with a peaceful transition if they get voted out (assuming it isn't rigged such that it will never look like they lose an election again).

  • Half the point of the baking step is to remove outter layer's moisture. If they didn't want to remove the moisture, they could just cook it normally, and no, that other method isn't some secret. Baking is just going for more complex textures. Should be left with a crunchy crust but everything below is moist and gooey.

First she literally asked who was the "fairest", second I'm side eyeing the idea that she'd care about those concerns and would be the "good one" between her and the mirror. Sure, there's a bunch of story villains that are actually more relatable than the heroes of their stories but the queen from Snow White was just a cartoon villain. And a despot that orders the assassination of a young girl for daring to look better than her isn't raising what looks like leftist (or at least social liberal) talking points about beauty standards and racism.

    Based on this, I think this might be conservative propaganda dressed up as "woman can't be wrong" propaganda.
