  • Worth trying disc golf. Most courses are built on under utilized park land funded and maintained by local volunteer clubs. You can get three discs for $30-40 or most loan some from somebody who plays (we all have too many) and get started!

    Most courses are free to play.

  • It happens all the time if you continue to pay attention to events months or years after they occurred. There are people with focus, skills, and interest who dig in to understand disasters and complex factors that often create them.

    I guess you can argue that the initial political discussions kick off the resources that get actual solutions created down the line. It’s just sad to me that people get all riled up about crazy situations like the central Texas floods and when the actual analysis of the situation comes in later hardly anyone cares to read the reports or even give a shit about the proposed solutions.

  • Google has been kicking the can on ending third party cookie support for years. Chrome has such a large market share that whatever they decide to do has a huge impact on the ability to monetize content with ads.

    There’s no clear direct replacement for identifying users for ad targeting outside of 3pty cookies. Lots of competing ‘privacy preserving frameworks’ but they all need buy in from many players at scale to be effective.
