  • I’ve seen this in person. You have some great legacy clients who started free to use that are totally disconnected with the pricing structure imagined by the new people who are disconnected with the original purpose of the product.

Possibly this is some kind of automated function but more realistically in sales:

Some middle manager looks at the total users 😔/ or maybe active users and tells their sales team to jack the price without any understanding of the account.

  • Probably the best piece I’ve read in the last day on this.

It’s easy to get caught up in the Toilet Paper USA logic memes format but the originals were often hella fuckin racist, and millions of people were influenced by them.

  • Eh I don’t know about that. Airlines selling passenger manifest data to governments and other entities is a legit revenue stream.

  • Military recruiting continues to trend down in the U.S. but one area of growth against that was legal immigrants and children of illegal immigrants.

I’d wager we’ll have a lot fewer of those folks to recruit in the coming years.

  • Agreed it’s a combo of higher seat density and way more checked bags.

I swear in the 90s getting off a plane felt way quicker.

  • This one of those hobbies that sounds so cool but so impractical to get into. Like it makes getting a boat sound like a cheap and easy hobby.

  • The last part of service section regarding the Afrikaans language test is wild. The sales flow is sacred and I cannot believe such a huge stupid blocker would get green lit into product.

  • Somewhere there is a sales deck estimating ROI for uncomfortable toilets.

  • In a work environment I can only assume they just leave that box in the flow but the actual session duration limit is set by your IT policy.

  • Wait until you hear about people who leave butter outside the fridge for days at a time.

  • Probably your mom, the whale.

  • CNN vs PBS Frontline

It often takes time to get an accurate understanding of the situation.

  • The people making the big bucks in Silicon Valley are often the people really good at understanding psychology and manipulating people’s behavior.

I honestly would have never thought of this either. I’m one of those traditional losers who thinks providing a good value/service at a sustainable margin is a good way to run a business.

  • We’re still in the first act of the scenario you think is certain. Meanwhile WDET is going to be short $700,000 next fiscal year and that’s what I was thinking about when I originally commented. Had I realized we were not on the same page I wouldn’t have replied to your comment directly.

  • Also NAL and different sizes of platforms have different obligations. Could be wrong that the scenario I described applies to Lemmy.

  • I’m ignoring the US politics for a moment…

If I flag a comment on Lemmy for abuse, breaking community rules, or other reasons, do you y’all think I am individually owed a response from the mod team on whether the content stays approved, or was removed, that includes the specific criteria behind the decision?

That’s what the DSA requires among many other requirements.

  • Oh my bad I was talking about restoring long term funding to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

If you trying to squad up, Lemmy or any public forum ain’t the best place to do that.

  • Amen to that. CPB will live on if Americans can get their shit together and get a congress in 2026. We’ll make up for some of it for our local stations in the interim.

Reps should make restoring funding a top 10 talking point in the next election cycle. Retirees love public programming.
