  • Not to mention they're not really getting better. There's not really anything a brand new phone can do that a phone a few years old can't do. There's no point in getting a new phone cos it's not really an upgrade anymore

  • Volume for sure, but also Americans seem to be largely incapable of experiencing silence. They tend to fill silence as if they love the sound of their own voice.

    Obviously this isn't all Americans, and my only experience of Americans are when they're tourists.

    You say you listen more than you speak so you're probably fine. Even just asking about how to not be annoying shows you have more self awareness than any American I've ever met

  • I love my modular synthesizer, although the cost of it is not good value for money so probably can't count as my best tech purchase.

    My sim racing rig has the same issue, it's bought me thousands of hours of joy but is prohibitively expensive.

    My ergodox mechanical keyboard is a solid contender. The original model, Hand built, cherry MX clears. It's lasted easily 10 years and I hate typing on anything else.

    But I think it's probably my headphones. Beyerdynamics DT770 pro's. They sound great, they're super comfy, and not terribly expensive. I've had them for probably 10 years and I see no reason I won't have them till the day I die

  • They never worked. For some unlucky people, anti-depressants just straight up don't work. If you're new at it, keep at it, but if it's been a few months it might be time to switch medication. if you've already switched a bunch of times, they might not work for you and your only option is probably therapy

  • Kinda in a lull with homelabbing ATM, but here I've got my router in a custom 3d printed mini rack with 3d printed patch panel, and a couple of old NUCs. Only thing I really use day-to-day is a NUC connected to an amp so I can use the amp as a Spotify connect client

  • New Zealand is incredibly beautiful. I think my favourite place was on top of Fox glacier, but search up Marakopa falls, Wilson's creek chasm, Milford sound, and the church of the good Shepard to see more incredible spots

  • I was recently in New Zealand, this is a photo that shows the blue pools in the mount aspiring national Park. The water is the bluest/clearest I've ever seen.

    It wasn't my favourite place In new Zealand, nor the prettiest, but the water is so incredibly blue

  • If they weren't guzzling the worlds water supply, and using the electricity of a small nation, and didn't steal small creators works, and weren't hijacking the worlds supply of RAM, and wasn't causing a bubble that will wreak havoc on the global economy, and it wasn't causing people to go into psychosis by encouraging delusional thoughts, than i probably wouldn't be against it.

    Other than those issues it seems fine, but until those are addressed, I'm pretty anti-ai
