  • It is already filtered to factory farms. Although as I said, take that website with a huge grain of salt. Their criteria for what they add is pretty loose, as you've seen.

    My point was just that we definitely have factory farms Inghams for example operates over 300 farms across Australia and New Zealand

    Take this with a large grain of salt, the criteria of the locations on this map is they are locations know OR SUSPECTED to be engaging in animal cruelty or exploitation. And not all of these locations are in operation currently

    But we absolutely have a ton of factory farms unfortunately, this is why it's important to shop as carefully as you're able to.

    In the depths of my depression I had no hobbies and my psychologist said I should try everything, so I did, and continue to do so. You'll be surprised what sticks.

  • I replied to another user about this, but aside from Bluetooth being a privacy nightmare, there's also the limited lifespan, the bad quality dacs, the lithium batteries and increased e-waste. Not to mention the expense. For $500 you can get genuinely very good wired headphones that will last the rest of your life. For the same price you can get mediocre wireless headphones that will eventually fail to hold a charge and become useless in X years

  • Foggenbooty pretty much nailed it.

    Poor repairability, but also, why would I use 2 cheap dacs (1 in each earbuds), when I would use wired earphones and have 1 good dac. And the fact lithium needs to be mined for 2 batteries is super problematic considering the conditions lithium miners face.

    Of course then there's the issue that everything with a battery has a limited lifespan. Those batteries will die one day and render your wireless earphones useless. My headphones will last for the rest of my life, meaning less e-waste is generated.

    BT being active is a privacy nightmare, and the ones that require apps is also a privacy nightmare.

    But then also they are just inferior to wired headphones in every way. So yeah, I'm not gonna buy an objectively worse product for way more money than their wired counterparts, that also exploits lithium miners and our planet and is also a privacy nightmare.

    A windows license.

    Games consoles. (I would consider a stream deck to be immune from this as it's just a handheld PC)

    Android phones, Apple phones.

    Wireless earphones.

    A modern car.

  • Same as I do now, vinyl. If you're listening to CDs, which are digital, you may as well buy your music digitally from Bandcamp or wherever and you have no need for physical media.

    CDs also suffer from bit rot so they won't last forever, best way to keep them forever is to rip them, but at that point, again, just buy the music digitally.

    Vinyl doesn't give you the best sound quality, it can be annoying to have to flip the record over or change records, but there's something about it being tangible, it's a real thing, you can see the grooves, you don't even need power to play a record. And with care, they'll last a lot longer than a CD.

    Vinyl isn't a perfect medium, but that's kinda what makes it so fun and special

    Yes they will kill off the thing you have grown reliant on, and so you're better off to avoid anything with google

  • I don't have a favourite album of all time, but I do have favourites for certain genres/vibes.

    For just putting on as some music in the background it's Selected Ambient Works 85-92 by Aphex Twin

    For metal, it's Behemoth, either The Satanist or I Loved You at Your Darkest.

    For electronic music, Biceps Isles is great, and when I used to run, it's great exercise music. But in that same vein Palaces by Flume is also excellent.

    For down tempo vibes it's gotta be Mezzanine by Massive Attack, although Music has the right to Children by Boards of Canada is a very close second. And fuck actually Dummy by Portishead

    For more classic easy listening vibes, Chicago 2 by Chicago.

    For something I think anybody can enjoy, it's plastic beach by Gorillaz. It's their best album by far and I love a concept album.

    When I want to hear BEAUTIFUL music that also goes hard, it's John Hopkins immunity. I had the title track play at my wedding and it captured the vibe perfectly.

    So I guess no, I don't have a favourite album
