  • That's not fried. There is zero fry on that rice.

  • This is a pretty bananas idea, but I wondered if in the future we'll be able to have something like a large robot arm "throw" a small plane from the top of a skyscraper as well as catch it for landing. Something like a modified trebuchet, slowly storing energy in a suspended weight to power throwing the plane, or to store the energy from catching the plane. We'd probably need further advances in robotics control, and the arm might need to be too heavy to be fast enough. And overall this makes even less sense than a catapult / puller that is already in use for gliders.

  • I think you're overstating the prevalence and influence of "don't bother voting". This feels more like trying to misplace blame on your fellow socialist who don't believe in "electorialism" instead of blaming plutocrats and propaganda and the ideology of greed and individualism. Or blaming the party that had Harris run.

There is a real danger in this heated rhetoric about voting. Like if you just vote harder it will work out this time. We must resist that lie. And don't be surprised about some trolling if you try to sell that lie to a bunch of gnarly socialists. Imagine someone came to your house and told you something like "Yes, Trump is a bit bad, but he is with the angels and the power of religious faith surrounds him on all sides and just believing in Christ and praying will lead to an untold utopia!" I mean what would you say to such nonsense?

But I don't think it actually discourages a single progressive from running if they want to. Which means having to play a corrupt game if you want to actually gain power and rise to the top.

If you want to actually do something I recommend some autonomous action.

  • Well I heard that safety is always a compromise between convenience and security. I think this would only make sense if you have a provider that you can trust now to provide a clean extension, but you can't trust to not do a rugpull or be forced by agents to suddenly implement a vulnerability. But that is basically specifically targeting you or your group. So this is already incredibly niche.

For most people, you either trust or you don't, and preferably you only trust a server in a neutral country like Switzerland. If you make it too complicated you diminish the usefulness of the service.

I believe it would be far more secure to have a native linux app written in e.g. rust to do all this. For an encrypted messenger for example.

  • Basically they are trying to get the AI to be both intelligent, answer questions truthfully based on facts in order to be useful for work, and to lie and ignore facts at the same time to push political propaganda.

AI probably has to become a whole lot more intelligent than it is now to do that really well.

Unfortunately fuckai is making sure that plutocrats are the only people who train AI models.

  • Since a plane requires the most thrust at takeoff, you could use ground-based

Actually dragging (or wheeling in) a wire or having a wire car supplying the plane with electricity during takeoff would work too.

I think the only realistic use case is going to be short trips. For long range offsetting the carbon for jet fuel just makes more sense.

But really small personal vehicles could be interesting. There is the Pivotal BlackFly which can VTOL and uses less electricity than a big electric car - and it needs to roads. So for commuting this could actually work to save on infrastructure.

  • “steak and some other shit”

I feel like that is the perfect definition of what a steak is. It's STEAK!!! And some other shit.

  • Technically correct is the stupidest kind of correct!

  • Okily Dokily!

  • So are you the standartenträger for standart, or just a stantard?

  • Now I'm curious what a complete dish is in your opinion. Like there are only protein (meat, soy, bean) and carbs (potatoes, pasta, rice, corn, bread) and oil / fat that have calories. Like what else could you add to a steak? A spoonful of lard?

  • I do think with advanced porn technology we could see some serious societal issues. Especially if they are controlled for profit by a single megacorp like all the dating websites.

But ultimately AI girlfriends are just porn, even if you'd have like an advanced version in virtual reality with cyberdildonics going down on you every night. I suspect most dudes will have no problem separating the fantasy because... aehm men won't get addicted to one AI girlfriend because they'll want a whole harem of them lol.

So if you had a local AI software running on a solar powered PC and graphics card, it would even be a completely ethical form of pornography, since it's both sustainable and you do not contribute to the demand for young women to do for money what most wouldn't do just for fun.

AI porn fundamentally changes the dynamics of the industry, basically a few open source software / open weight models made not for profit could completely "democratize" the access to porn. I honestly think being able to cut out the transactional aspect of porn is a major moral stepping stone of human evolution. Similar to a technology that could fully replace meat and make animal slaughter superfluous.

  • I've been thinking of getting an AI girlfriend! But only once I can afford a nice solar powered PC and graphics card for her and all her stable diffusion software to live in.

  • No longer legal in my European country.

  • What movie is that meme template from?

  • People have been trained by social media to hate pretty much anything on command these days. It doesn't really matter what or who it is, there is always an audience to hate this or that. You'd think that at some point people would get that this is class warfare, but no.

  • Hanlon's razor

  • I think proper newspeak would be ++thirsted

  • Ah what the heck after the 5th time reloading it did work lol
