  • As a fanboy of LG phones, sadly everything they offer is now better than LG because the last phone LG released was in 2020. At least they shut down their phone division rather than enshittifying.

  • You're not wrong but it certainly feels like it right now, I'm in the Twin Cities and the air is just so gross right now due to being downwind from the Canadian wildfires. We're just straight up being told to not go outside with a hazardous rating.

  • I saw the audio memory thing for music in the patch notes, made me glad I was immediately installing Graphene on this thing.

  • No it's not. The paper is the WaPo sports section from a day or two ago and the lettering matches well with that and the crunchy pixels. The newspaper might be photoshopped into an old pic or there's some other fuckery but the text on the paper matches. (Also that kind of check pattern on Mitch's shirt is hard for current commercially available LLMs but wouldn't put it past them to have access to something fancy.)

  • Neat little things, I used to find them in the citrus trees my family had in the backyard as a kid.

  • Oh hey I just finished part 2 of the BtB episodes about them

EDIT: lol that's part 1 you linked to, I assumed it was Strange Aeons

  • I have auditory processing issues and this is something that would help me a lot. Not enough to justify the costs - the glasses themselves, the subscription, my own self-respect, the privacy and respect of the people around me...

  • a human

It's a million times smarter than a specific human, Musk's pedo buddy Donald Trump.

  • 41.5 C is 106.7 Freedom units. That's too hot. Yikes.

  • I think your take is completely reasonable but I think the 'first to 100 million users' is actually noteworthy because if they can become entrenched and people become unwilling to learn anything else, they've won and can charge nearly whatever the fuck they want (at least in the medium term). See Microsoft and Adobe. They charge whatever they want for their subscription programs because what else are you going to do, use GIMP? Even in situations where the FLOSS alternative is legitimately good, a lot of people will still refuse to switch. I don't think Anthropic can survive long enough for them to become the only thing Susan from HR knows or is willing to use, but I think there's a path to profit somewhere here.

  • Monument mailboxes were popular for a while when I was a kid in Florida. Someone in the neighborhood had one shaped like a manatee!

  • I bought a beer fridge a few years ago that was a Peltier device and it came with a wall plug and a car adaptor, they're still around. It worked but if you left it running for a week or so it would freeze the cans. It was lightweight and did the job and I knew the downsides when I bought it.

  • I regret spending so much time playing sports. I didn't have enough time to figure out what I like and what I'm good at and where those things intersect so now I'm just kinda adrift as an adult. My parents forced me to play though because they were shitheads that thought my not terribly athletic self would get a full ride college scholarship through hard work so I had zero financial support for college as well, I was just glad to escape their manipulative bullshit. The lesson I should have learned was that natural talent beats hard work every time, it sucks.

  • I was sitting outside of an anime con rave with some friends when people started streaming out of the rave in a hurry. Someone had set off pepper spray in the middle of the crowd. Never fully found out why but the two stories I heard were either that a guy got way too handsy with a girl or someone just did it for the lulz. (Either way it was a bad time for a lot of people and the paramedics had to be called for a few folks.)

  • So how nasty are these things to humans? They seem like body horror nightmare fuel.

(I think I live far enough north to not have to worry about them but thinking about them still makes me a bit queasy.)

  • Or if you're born into wealth, CEO is also an option!

  • Can't, I'm in the bathroom producing an ai response.
