  • It only supports Stardew Valley and Cyberpunk at the moment iirc.

    Cyberpunk is a good one though, cause it requires running external .exe files for some of the mods to install/run. Which I hope they get working, cause thats also kind of a problem games Skyrim/Fallout/Starfield have, in that the most essential mod is Script Extender, and trying to find a way to launch it on linux that will launch the game.

  • People who are proud of getting a good deal via an app break my heart. Most folks I know like that are not strapped for cash. They just like the feeling of getting a bargain. They don’t consider that the prices are artificially inflated.

    Thats why Prime Day is such a big deal.

    People think they are getting awesome deals cause its 50% off, are not going and checking price trackers to see the item had a HUGE price spike a week before Prime Day.

    But they think they got 50% off and that gives them that massive dopamine rush, and that encourages more spending.

    You know why?

    Cause browsers do a lot to protect your data from invasive sniffing.

    but if you containerize it in an app, you can remove all those pesky safety measures Which lets you turn a customer into a product by siphoning up all their data and information.

    the overwhelming majority of apps are nothing but websites wrapped in apps that strip away all the privacy and protections anyway, and demand far to many permissions for shit that are completely irrelevant to their purpose (because they want to siphon literally everything out of your phone and monetize the information).

    I'd rather miss a deal, a sale, or whatever, than to deal with that shit.

  • Eeh.. I'd respectfully disagree on the anti-cheat being the only real hurdle right now.

    Modding is still a massive pita and janky compared to windows, as an example.

    Don't get me wrong, Linux gaming has advanced entire geologic eras compared to where it was 10 years ago, 5 years ago, hell.. even last year. I dont even have to reference protondb anymore, I just expect things to work in general, and they usually do, outside of the minority of games with asshole anticheat (most of that can even be run on linux, they just refuse to enable the option)

    It'd totally be uncouth to step in and do anything to prevent the slaughter of tens of thousands, if not more, innocent civilians.

    We should really drag it out and make no substantive efforts until Israel's genocide is complete, Then we can "punish" them by giving them all the land they've cleansed.

    Like, imagine a 7 year old telling a story about their first trip across country to a major theme park, where they got to spend a day with their favorite princess, and how, even 40 years later, thats a story they tell with great joy, and a big smile?

    Only replace the trip and princess with what she said her dad did.

    It was fucking unsettlingly creepy.

  • five minutes after meeting her, she went into a graphically detailed spiel about how her father sexually abused her as a child. and she was very upbeat, happy, and smiling as if it was a delightfully fond memory the entire time.

    I dont know what the end of the story is because by the time she got about, what i hope, was a quarter of the tway through, I had already been so completely creeped and skeezed out that I had developed a cold sweat, and I just got up from the table, said nope, and walked away.

    I was kinda fucked up for a short while afterwards.

  • Those commercial displays are nothing but heavily stripped down TVs with anything unnecessary to being a advertising display removed. and maybe a tiny, grossly overpriced and heavily cut down computer built into it to run the slideshows/menus/whatever.

    also, TVs in a certain size range are generally cheap because manufacturing has gotten to the point that each mother can produce a ton of screens for it. and the reason that cheap range size has gone up over the years is because improvements in the printing technology and the size of the mother glass.
