  • I love how drivers only care about orwellian overreach when it infringes in their right to text and drive and kill people....

  • Upvote because I appreciate the MS paint drawing.... and it's a good drawing.... i just noticed the elastic on the waistband...

Most people would have used AI in this situation.

Can we get an actual photo of cat?

  • The vanilla copilot bundled in windows is completely useless and not suitable for enterprise use ..

Any company serious about productivity gain would use something else ...

I am by no means a pro-AI techbro, but my company invested into making a bespoke AI solution (yes it connects to one of the big boys on the backend) and it makes a world of difference.

I think a lot of the AI hate comes from people who have never used a paid model coupled with a good frontend...

  • Yeah, i'm not an idiot... i've already considered all those points about the downsides of using AI at work .... like you said.... play the game

if you really want to work on taking down Capitalism, organize your labor

How do you know i"m not using my free time at work to do exactly that?

you made a lot of assumptions about people who use AI at work ...

  • Seriously though, what "skills" are you building by learning how to use LLMs at your corporate job?

i'm not learning any skills.... i'm offloading some work on to AI so that i can do other stuff on company time...

Isn't that what we should all aspire to? To destroy capitalism from the inside?

  • I agree...

But check out the other discussions on lemmy about AI ..

    if you're not 100% against it, you're a facist

  • I agree with you...

But be prepared to be labelled a facist on lemmy

apparently there's no such thing as a neutral technology or tool

  • I think its pretty clear that an OG hacker like linus using AI as a helpful assistant is very different from a junior dev using it as a crutch

The question now is how to develop proper software engineers who have the old school skills first and foremmost, and then are able to use the assistance of an AI

  • Using AI is not the same as vibe coding.

i've been in dozens of lemmy threads that disagree...

There's a huge portion of lemmy who think even one token of AI is unacceptable for any reason

I'm in a thread where the entire idea of AI/LLMs has been declared facist, with ZERO legitimate use cases other than facism

  • Your original reply to me:

i mean, not all AI is facist....

Again, i think we're saying the same thing....

The ONLY point i was trying to make in my top level comment is that maths/technology/physics are not inherently good or bad or facist... we've discussed many examples of tech being used for both good and bad.

But it seems lemmy has decided (by downvotes) that AI is indeed 100% facist, with no future possibility of doing anything good

  • Are you actually saying nuclear power is an inherently facist technology that should have been ended before it started?

Space travel, satellites, and all related tech are also facist

IBM worked with the nazis, so throw out your phone and your computers.....

nothing in this world will ever pass lemmy's purity tests...

Honestly, i'm pretty sure both of us are on the same page... but lemmy demands that things be black and white, good and evil. You havr to be 100% against AI or be labelled a facist enabler

  • You're totally right about the current state of affairs with AI technology. It has been misused for net negative outcomes....

But. The very first application of nuclear fission was wiping out two cities in the blink of an eye. Should we have immediately declared all nuclear tech as evil/facist and thrown it away? Of course not.... there was a lot of fear mongering about nuclear power in the years that followed, but i'm glad that we now have clean, reliable nuclear generators and other nuclear enabled tech.

Driving through upstate new york with my family. Passed through a small town looking for some food and/or gas.

One house had nazi banners hanging openly on the front of the house. Not flags, they were like those big vertical banners behind hitler during speeches.

Nope. We can hold our pee and get gas later.... drive a little faster and get out.

As a canadian, i was shocked.... i thought stuff like that only existed in the deep south.... we were 3hrs from the canadian border or something.

In hindsight, it explains a lot about the current state of affairs in the US

  • i understand there are a lot of facist AI companies, but how can an entire technology be facist?

That's like saying space travel is facist because pretty much all of it was built on work by literal nazi scientists.

Do we throw out all the related advances too? Satellite communications, GPS, etc.?

  • If we havent reached that point, we're sure headed there....

Brought to you by carl's jr.

  • maybe the prosecutors decided that meta has more money and better lawyers than the actual fucking state AGs..... maybe this was the best deal they could possibly get....

maybe the issue isn't the legal system, it's the fact that these companies have become more powerful than the country itself....

  • Omg, is this why the save/open/cancel buttons are at the top of the dialog???

i've been annoyed at that for years... it just changed one day

  • Was always intimidated by indian curries. Aloo gobhi, palak paneer, mattar paneer, etc.

They're relatively easy to make compared to my assumptions. Like anything else, diffcult to do well... but i can make something passable

  • I really like the taste of cough medicine and pretty much any digestif/amaro/bitters you put in front of me.

    Same as you

i also like the artificial banana taste of that gross antibiotic they give kids (in north america, at least)

  • Linux @programming.dev

  • Fediverse @lemmy.world

Anyone have stats on how the recent "voidposting" frenzy on cat communities affected lemmy?
