Looking for an alternative to reddit

  • Lol, you guys really love your circle jerking about vaccines don't you. :)

    "Everyone must vaccinate!" "Heeeaaaard immmuuunityyyy"

    :)

  • Lol this is so true.

  • Yep. Almost all cloud machines are Linux. Does not mean that desktop market is.

  • Standing by for "Chinese memory is spying on you, don't buy it".

If this memory is high quality, it will become very popular with consumers and still have high prices. No reason to lower it a lot for consumer market if they are alone there. Maybe make it 10% cheaper.

  • I'm sure you are not alone thinking this. :)

  • Well one part of that is true at least.

  • Oneplus 13 has two day battery life for me. Best phone I've ever owned. But I heard they are not going to release oneplus phones in Europe anymore so that sucks a lot. I dont want anything else.

  • It really isnt better than reddit unfortunately. But it depends what you are looking for. If you want to find a replacement for a popular reddit community here, you are out of luck most of the time. But if you are happy with memes, you will like this place. Its chill and relaxed and has humor and no algorithms.

  • But they said if we pay, we are not the product...

Was the BMW free? It must have been.

  • Happy to see it. I would love a new platform to show up and replace reddit. I dont think its going to be Lemmy but something where the creators actually care about great discussions rather than money.

The challenge is moderation of course.

  • Not federated and it doesn't need to be since you use the same instance all the time. It's the content that is federated to your instance and you just view it on your instance.

  • There is a lot of truth to what you are saying here. Lemmy users are very quick to categorize other users into extreme categories, such as nazi or fascist, based on a few comments they make.

How many actual nazi or fascists do we have that are Lemmy users? Can't be many.

  • I think its different defaults in different mobile apps, yeah.

  • Yeah its a good choice to not get influenced by voting.

  • If you spend it on social media, sure. Which probably is like 99.99% of people today.

  • Lemmy is a total echo chamber, so I was smiling when you said "it's not immune to it". That's the understatement of the year award. :)

Upvotes make sure that popular opinions are at the top and people even report opinions they dont like to moderators here. Lol.

At least I'm on a good instance with a sane owner, but Jesus Christ, this place can be ridiculous. I've been told I'm a troll for disagreeing with the majority many, many times.

Not vaccinering against covid used to upset almost everyone, and it probably still does.

  • I think they don't know how to be anything else. Probably grew up with parents like that and had no other role models.
