Looking for an alternative to reddit

  • I forget sometimes that Lemmy audience is so young but I was born in 1975 and had these mars bars as a teenager.

Everything was better in the 80s and 90s I think, but im biased. :)

  • For me, I just got used to it being "mostly" correct. Im not betting my life on these things. I use them for recepies and im not putting poison in my food if it would say so. :)

  • It's generating recepies. So you can say you want certain ingredients and you don't like others, ask it to make a list of stuff you could try, and you will get that. Also, you can ask it during cooking exactly how to cut the pieces for best result, or if you want something more spicy and so on. It's much better than a static recepie. This is more like being able to talk about a dish and adjust it according to your taste, replace certain ingredients if you like, and so on.

Im using it daily and prefer it very much to browsing recepie sites.

  • People here want to dislike AI so bad that as soon as it says something wrong, they disqualify the entire technology.

  • It's not mixing spam. It comes up with great recepies that are perfectly seasoned and taste great. Sounds like you never tried it and you are projecting your dislike for AI on something you don't know.

I get that a lot of people on Lemmy don't like Ai but come on, we shouldn't lie about stuff it actually does well. I think it has a few very good usecases and this is one. Free recepies that work well.

  • What content is it not trained on?

  • I think you shouldn't even use this place. None of these apps are contributing to you being a healthy, stable, happy human being.

Its just strangers voting and commenting without ever meeting eachother, and being incredibly brainwashed by the specific content that is allowed to be seen. People end up in perception bubbles here and everywhere on so called social media.

You should not use phone apps at all for spending time. But thats hard for most since we are tired, we don't have any interests outside of work, we don't know that many people in real life, and we are lazy.

Is this better than cable tv? Sure. But it's no substitute for actually having something going on in your life that you feel passionate about and want to do all the time.

  • I think all Ai content on the web or on YouTube is trash and has no value. But I use chat gpt daily to ask questions and get answers quickly. That part is good. The rest is awful.

I started asking it for recepies in the last month or so, and it's been very useful for giving new recepies and making it easier to try new dishes. Before this I used to rotate the same 20 recepies all the time. Got very boring.

  • You may as well, you have banned everything else on Lemmy.world :)

But on a more serious note, who do you think posts all these content posts you like with memes from twitter or reddit? Most of Lemmy popular content is bots grabbing it from other sources and reposting it.

Edit: Ah you said askLemmy community only. Then yes, if you can.

  • Kagi is amazing but yeah, not sure what benefit this browser adds. Will see.

  • Gotta be the best at something right.

  • We have that, it's called social media. But the rest of us are not living our lives without it, seemingly...

  • Must be cool to be a Christian. Just do shitty things, then ask forgiveness and it's all good. You always get it.

  • To me that signals someone deeply in their bubble.

But sure, you have that option... Block me too, this comment is probably also too spicy. :)

  • Now you start to understand...

    Ask more questions.

  • It just means bots are taking over and we can trust even less of the web.

  • Block lemmy.ml if lemmy feels tirening.

    Jump
  • Ouch. Must have been difficult for you. Hope you feel better now when your Frontpage consists of things you can agree with. :)

  • I see your point I guess. Perhaps defederation is something that users want, and then they are happy to see who does it the most?

Im not like that myself, but I can see the point.
