Looking for an alternative to reddit

    What is it with the obsession to have thousands of communities on Lemmy, and now a suggestion to break it down into even more communities? It only serves to make it difficult to find where to post something.

    Old style forums had like 50 categories and that was enough for everything people wanted to discuss. I feel like this obsession with more and more communities are about the desire for order which many in the tech community has in their brains. It's not helpful for the Lemmy community at all.
