  • Not arguing with your points (we agree), but regarding my comment about literacy (not the poster who responded):

I was implying that one needs a basic level of tech literacy to even think about cameras as always being on. (As evidenced by the OP, and the poster who replied to me)

As WE know, "I shut off the camera" does not mean the camera is not recording, and "I shut off the WIFI" does not mean the data is secure. Some do not know this.

  • I can tell you as a tech literate person in healthcare... That I am in the minority of security conscious and knowledgeable users of said technology.

I expect HIPPA violations of unparalleled proportion from this new tech.

People are already terrible at security, and now they have even more information recording methods to mess up.

  • So, now you have to trust:

    1. That the person is not intentionally recording you.
    2. That they are not unintentionally recording you.

(Because if a camera is on, and eventually connected to the Internet, well... I should not have to explain how that can be an issue in this forum at least. We now have to trust the users tech literacy, and security diligence.)

  • Well, you see, I need my hidden wearable camera to detect other hidden cameras...

  • Why don't they just install Mint, Zorin, or even xUbuntu (XFCE versions of each)...

That's 3 examples with actual support and a user base >3 edgelord cat bois.

  • Quiery: Please show me an AI rendering of 1979 Alien, but with no changes from the original. Go.

    Surely this is peak Internet.

  • No, I was simply stating that as fluff pieces go, it's a good one. Fluff pieces can be about many topics, the relative value of the individual subjects is irrelevant.

  • I just got started with Linux this year when I set up my very 1st proxmox mini PC running multiple Ubuntu sever VM to just today getting around to dual booting my media/gaming PC with Cachy OS.

Add on my Steam deck and Iinux is taking over my house with only 2 dual boot windows installed and one will barely get used.

  • If the news can run "story about a struggling individual or animal overcoming odds through community support or sheer will, like the sickly squirrel nursed back to health by a man trapped in a collapsed cave."... For the thousandth time...

Let's just say I would rather watch this every year

  • Who watches the watchmen as they watch the women they abuse?

  • Is this the new staged opposition or just incompetence? Who can say.

  • Then tack on the spinoffs. The newest ones are kinda like having extra episodes from early seasons.

  • Toss in Babylon 5 for the Trek/Sgate/Bstar/Expanse and all spin offs rotation. That's a ton of great shows that could keep you busy for years with little overlap and breaks between franchises.

  • My spouse actually liked the last 2 seasons and ending, I was just disappointed by last 2 seasons.

But, I'm a jaded old misanthrope that read the books 1st, up to when that was impossible, and wanted the dark theme to continue and/or time skip to happen.

  • Just other obnoxious adolescent.

  • Or, they know they are pandering to the Lowest Common Denominator of human intelligence/awareness and that the minority that understands that song already know enough not to fall for it anyway.

  • Nice they did allow for a Saucer Section Separation for Voyagers captain, even if the ship couldn't.
