  • The manager should have Molotov cocktails smashed in their face. /s

The "/s" is there only because it would end up killing them or end up causing irreversible damage. If the above was not the case, then yeah, fuck them.

  • Ehhh naming stuff after individuals just sounds very icky to me

  • This is why consumer coops are so so important for stuff like this.

The insurance of a person I'm close to from their coop is around 9% cheaper than other non coop alternatives.

Consumer coops (irrespective of sector) always tend to have top notch customer service in my experience.

  • Really? For some reason, I really prefer DDG's results over Google's. Too much SEO spam for Google now (especially with AI).

DDG has this Reddit+ stack overflow thing that I quite like!

For generic factual stuff, I default to wikipedia. For opinions, it tends to be Reddit/Lemmy. If I have questions that are more of "tell me why my understanding of XYZ is wrong", then LLMs (the big ones) tend to be quite useful (yeah yeah, hate on me for this as much as you want).

  • Calgary, Canada.

    Beverage containers are sold with:

    • Deposit: Depending upon the size of the container, your deposit is calculated. You get that deposit back when you submit the container to a recycling facility.
    • Recycling fee: Depending upon how easy/difficult it is to recycle a container, you get charged a recycling fee. Metal containers I think charge 0. Plastics charge a little more.

It's kinda neat I guess. Haven't researched recycling systems around the world, so don't know if there are any better approaches than this one.

  • Idealism is intellectual jerking off. Quite fun!

  • Ask Lemmy @lemmy.world

Who was the MOST Trump like Roman Emperor/Consul?

  • Sockpuppeting an argument with yourself is just masturbation though.

I would disagree. How else is one supposed to understand the limitations of a statement? The completeness of a position? Areas for further study? A confidence rating of sorts in a position?

  • No. Not unless the other party clearly knows that I'm arguing for a position that isn't mine. Haven't really had the opportunity to do that on Lemmy.

That being said, I do most of the counter argument stuff with myself to arrive at a given position. Or, read other people's debates on the matter.

  • Definitely want kids in the future (adopted AND birthed if that's a word)!

The world has tons of beauty to witness and look at. So many things to do! So many amazing people to meet, be friends with and chill out with! So many celestial bodies to learn about! Just so much of cool stuff to do.

That being said, I highly doubt I'd be comfortable having kids for at least 7 more years. I kinda want to live the fuck out of my "no responsibility"/edgy phase, while create the material conditions necessary to raise kids.

I know I'll get there eventually though. Having kids is expensive, but not prohibitively expensive (at least where I live).

  • Mostly, yes a lot!

Writing about my thoughts, opinions and positions has helped me understand them even better!

You're rarely going to change anyone's position online, as sadly most aren't arguing in good faith. BUT responding to rebuttals from others and questions (good faith or bad faith) leads to a very cool intellectual exercise where you get to probe your positions from so many different angles.

If things become toxic or brain-rotty, then you can just disengage without explanation! Kinda cool actually!!!

  • Haha yeah, I was literally talking about this with a friend earlier.

The corporations (at least in Canada) have successfully managed to monetize KINDNESS. That's what tipping culture is!!! Reduce base pay like anything, because "hey, people are kind- they'll donate the rest of that wage we reduced anyway".

Capitalism is incompatible with a functioning society.

  • Russia running out of gas is the funniest thing

  • I fail to understand time and time again how people can tolerate those little annoying squeakers. They aren't even cute ffs.

That being said, firecrackers just suck. Animals, babies, the elderly, folks sensitive to loud noises, folks with war related PTSD, the environment, all of this has to suffer because "oooo prettyyyyy".

There are other forms of celebration and entertainment that do not have such negative externalities. Example: the opening ceremony of Paris 2024.

  • No, you aren't missing anything. You're right that some sort of basic income is inevitable (universal or not). Even if you are a raging capitalist, you still need the plebs to have SOME income to be able to purchase goods and services.

However, for this to happen, it must be demonstrable that AI is actually causing high unemployment. Right now, while economic productivity is kinda increasing due to AI, unemployment isn't. When it happens:

    • Capitalists will advocate for BI.
    • Market socialists will advocate for BI combined with government/coop ownership over some or all means of production.
    • Socialists that prefer planned economics could advocate for an expansion of universal basic services.
    • Primitivists will advocate for bans on AI or whatever, I dunno.

Massive unemployment is bad for everyone including the ruling class, as that leads to pitchforks, guillotines and chopped off heads.

  • Insta: to watch furry femboy thirst reels YouTube: to watch stuff Snap: Nudes Reddit: See reactions to governmental policies. Also, I really love the askeconomics sub.

  • Awooooooo

  • It's all a joke at this point lol.

"So what new evil schemes are big tech up to? Ah, installing LLMs on people's devices? Wonderful!"

  • Yea, fuck the corpos. The fandom is perfectly good the way it is. I'd prefer more interest (and suiting) for therians tbh. The realistic side of fursuits that is. SUITS THAT DON'T LOOK UNCANNY.

  • Thick of it (Ray Walter Music remix)
