    Ghost- If You Have Ghosts

  • I left briefly to go on Kbin.social first, but went back to Reddit when the instance got flooded with spam and then started to go down more often than not. I had fun customizing how my communities/magazines looked when I was on there.

After the stupid decisions like making upvotes bannable which have worse implications longterm, I went back to the Fediverse. I decided just change instances if shit hits the fan instead of allowing myself to get back into Reddit. It sucks because I’ve used Reddit since around 2010. That being said, Lemmy feels more like how Reddit used to when I started using it.

  • People should leave through Mexico or Canada depending on which is closest and fly to Europe from there. Not just in an emergency or if you’re afraid of getting your passport taken. I don’t trust American airspace at all anymore just because of how many air traffic controllers have been fired.

  • Supposedly, I shouldn’t be the one who cares more about US soldiers than a republican president, and yet…

  • I don’t mind Discord for smaller groups of friends I know in real life, but larger groups end up with so many notifications that I end up ignoring the app. A forum would feel a lot nicer, like it’s not a chore to keep up with things.

  • You have Thirteen hours in which to solve the labyrinth before your baby AI becomes one of us, forever.

  • cats @lemmy.world

    Wow Man

  • That’s still really bad. If 2/3 of illiterate people were born in America, that really highlights how inconsistent education is in America.

When I was a kid, I lived in a regular suburban neighborhood but the middle school and high schools that I was zoned for were so awful that my parents enrolled me into a charter school. (The elementary school was fine) Since then, some of the crappy schools in my city are now magnet schools and so my parents’ house appears to be zoned to different schools. There appears to be less public schools now. That’s probably not a good thing.

  • I haven’t checked it out yet, but the same could be said about the early days of YouTube. Professional cameras weren’t that common for the first years of it.

  • Good. If I ever published anything, I would absolutely not want it to be pirated by AI so some asshole can plagiarize it later down the line and not even cite their sources.

  • His legacy can live on with Dr Parkinstein. (Parker Edmondson)

  • We need to tally up all the accidents and pedestrian hit-and-runs that occur involving cars with this “feature.” It would likely be enough of an increase you could reasonably make a class action lawsuit. I have no sympathy whatsoever for a car manufacturer that can’t get it through their heads that distracted driving is a major cause of accidents, and could easily happen by their own features.

  • If it’s anything like Reddit, it would devolve into being mostly creepy adults.

  • Most of us would post on forums as teens back in the day, so it’s hypocritical to try to keep them from doing it too. The only places we should run them off would be communities we specifically make for adults. They don’t necessarily have to be NSFW. Sometimes it’s just nice to have a community where everyone is old enough that they get the same references and are in similar stages in life.

General music and hobby related communities really shouldn’t be blocked off, though.

  • Yeah, the mention of AI is pretty ominous. It makes me wonder if AI would be used to fill in the gaps when the user base is too low.

  • Not just Europeans. I was talking to my roommate about how I deleted my Reddit accounts and fully committed to switching over to Lemmy, and his main concern was which instances were hosted in America so he could avoid them.

  • Wait, people got banned for upvoting that?

    Welp. Rip my account

  • I used to use Kbin.social but eventually it started to get overrun by spam when the servers worked.

  • It depends on the book. I think it works better with horror or books that are focused on music to have a playlist in the background.
