  • That was great, wish it had turned out different. I almost bought some too, knowing I’d lose it, just to claim to have been a part of it.

  • I want to know about this shared soapy ass bar and also I don’t.

  • Ok I should know this by now, but what actually is the current “./“ directory when you use that? Is it the docker daemons start dir like /var/docker ?

  • I think it’ll have an effect. If you think of the cross section of the piping in the condenser (radiator in the outside unit shown in photo), you have heat trying to transfer from the fluid on the inside diameter, through the pipe wall, then to the air surrounding the outer diameter.

Heat has to flow from hot to cold, so ideally you have a gradient from hot to cold going from inside to outside.

But suppose the sun intensely heats that pipe wall and it ends up higher than either fluid on either side of it. Now you’ve got heat flowing from the wall to both inside and outside.

Not saying that ever happens, but every degree warmer that the pipe wall is, is a slow down in the heat transfer rate. Less of a gradient for the heat flow.

  • Veganism definitely has terrible PR. But we also have to be wary of cherry picking the extremists from a movement as representatives of the whole.

I’d like to be 100% vegan, I’m not but I try. We started with weekday vegetarianism and went from there. Moderation is absolutely effective, IMO.

  • I’m so thankful the internet showed me how cute they are. The ones I’m familiar with are too small to see the facial features and proportions. But now that I know I think they’re super cute.

I don’t mind spiders at all but I can totally understand why people have arachnophobia. That’s why I find it hilarious that there’s this one species, a “jumping” species no less, that magically can flip from grotesque to cute.

  • Ok that’s a solid rebuttal around the “is it normal” argument. I’m personally still of the mindset that it’s “normal but wrong”. I wish we’d stop using normal to mean “good” and stick with it meaning “popular”. Statistics!

  • I didn’t realize there were pro-lifers that accepted “it’s not an abortion if the fetus wasn’t going to be viable”. You could pretty easily extend that to full term. Hell with medical debt, I don’t see how there’s much chance in a lot of cases even post partum.

  • My computing experience at work has gotten worse over the years (with the exception of OneDrive and Excel tables), but I get to go home and work with PCs that run free software that performs so much more slickly and unobtrusively. Thank you FOSS devs!

  • It’s not your fault the video you linked uses that sensationalist title (unless you are Mr./Ms. Fireship themselves) but yeah, it’s click baity. Soft bricking is something just breaking. The term brick was meant as a harsher version of that. This title aims to grab you with a concept that is far worse than software errors when it was software errors.

I have spent my time wisely typing this internet comment.

  • Haha that’s a great site. But I think the C example is actually reasonable behaviour.

  • Like that burned-in timestamp feature on film cameras.

  • I almost commented that I’d never seen the burger attached to this story before and if that’s what it was, it may not have been the fractions!

  • Every time I read the wiki list on this, I find new ones I didn’t know about.

  • Vitamin

    Third unit vector

    Prefix for 1000

    Fracture toughness

  • Thanks! I’m running jellyfin inside of docker, so perhaps there’s a way to keep the images synchronized. Media sync would happen separate, as you suggest.

  • If you have the time, I’d love to learn how to set up a hot standby, not just for jellyfin but in general.

  • I figure they are just joking, using the opportunity to pretend-razz a boomer as satire.

  • I remember someone telling me they uncapped their modem and got 133 megabytes per second on an ICQ transfer. I called them on their BS, but it’s crazy that with Nvme and Fibre connections we’re finally there.
