  • Does that include public urination without the use of a penis? I know it probably does. Just giggling at the idea of some infinite loop where you can’t convict because the bathroom law doesn’t recognize a post op penis as male.

  • I’m trying to be more Bayesian in life, but it’s a difficult lifestyle change!

  • It’s definitely weird whatever it is. Can’t drink together because not both having coffee?

  • Are you going to be running Linux?

I’ve also got a tower with a GTX 1060 and I’d like to have it sleeping, but ready to be woken by the Pi when needed. But it never wakes up from a sleep state, so I’m curious if you’ve had any luck with that and we can trade notes.

  • I think it’s higher than a 50% chance of heads, because you have evidence for it being an unfair coin.

  • I’m starting to develop a conspiracy theory that MS is trying to make the desktop experience so terrible that everyone switches to mobile devices, such that they can be more easily spied on.

  • And that us poors still on limited bandwidth plans get charged for going over our monthly quotas because everything has to be streamed or loaded from the cloud instead of installed (or at least cached) locally.

  • I dunno I suspect left leaning Nice Guys have rapists amongst them as well.

  • I’m interested in knowing this too

  • Breakfast is most consistent both in terms of not being skipped and being approximately the same nutrients.

Dinner sometimes breaks up into two small snacks spaced apart, but is never really skipped.

Lunch is often minimal, varies in when it happens, kinda wish I didn’t even need it!

  • That…that sounds like something someone made up so that the comma-period camps could pause fighting and gang up on a common enemy.

  • What the heck, MAGA needed to oppose Bluey? Maybe I haven’t watched enough but I don’t see it as particularly political. I guess it’s anti- “children should be seen and not heard” if that’s still a thing on the far right.

  • I’m a convert. Comma is the larger symbol which should be used for the more significant delimiter. Comma for decimal, periods for thousands separator.

  • Wait I’m confused. Sam Altman is OpenAI right? And he says the DoW agreed to work with them but with the same prohibitions that Anthropic wanted?

  • If it’s the sending and receiving part of email, I’ve switched to purelymail (you could pick another) and put it behind my custom domain name. Because behind a custom domain, that’s the last time you’ll have to update your contacts as it won’t be dependent on which email provider you choose.

Searching through decades of old emails I do still use the Gmail account, but I just have to get off my butt to self host a local IMAP server for that.

  • That makes a lot of sense

  • I realize now that there’s two interpretations here; faith in humanity’s goodness, and faith in humanity’s survival.

I like your take—that it’s probably the same set of people but we’re aware of more of people globally. I’d say since systems heavily shape people, it depends how those evolve over time. Hard to say whether we’re better or worse off than before in terms of systems mostly shaping good or bad traits in people. Total shot on the dark but I think on the whole we have better systems. The historical trend line looks positive in the equitable and empowering direction.

For survival I unfortunately think the probability decreases over time as we command more energy and climate altering technology. Fewer people than ever can do more damage than ever. I think there will always be humans on earth, but they may have to restart civilization. Ugh.

  • We could also be wrong that war will break out and that climate change won’t be surmountable. I think we’re all hoping that’s the case!
