  • Honestly 90% of the movies we want to watch aren't on Prime (which we happen to have for non-movie-reasons) and we would need extra subscriptions for each of them. It is cheaper and more convenient for us to buy used blu rays or dvds of the movies. It's 3,99€ to rent a movie for 48 hours (best case, usually it is some arthouse subscription) or 2,17€ for the DVD on medimops. We watch during lunch break so we usually can't make it through a movie in 48 hours without stressing. (My spouse does not want to pirate anymore and I support that.)

Our daughter has her own small collection of cartoons and anime that she can choose for a TV treat instead of scrolling through the endless void of the internet.

I love booklets too much to ever let go of CDs.

  • Thank you, I was going nuts not seeing Fleabag. At some point in life I just kept watching it in a loop for several weeks. At this point I am like that girl who could watch Shrek in her head.

  • I use windows because I have no desire, time, or reason to put effort into switching to linux. Whenever I need a computer I am mostly asked to work with ms office anyway. If I will ever need to use computers more I might make the change, but so far I use my broken ass windows computer.

  • To be fair, I did know a couple of CEOs who really had a vision and were working like mad. To be even more fair, they were still cutthroat bitches and were ready to dispose of any "human resource" as they saw fit.

  • I love Sailor Moon. I know that it is an important franchise for the LGBTQ community. But I disagree with the popular takes that claim that all the seshis are bisexual/pansexual. I won't hate on anyone's ship either, but seeing every hug of two characters as proof that there is romantic/sexual chemistry between them is not only tiring but puts it into a light where any kind of physical touch or emotional connection between two people has to be romantic or sexual and cannot be platonic, friendship based, or simple kindness. It has an "oh look Timmy is hugging Susie he must have a crush on her haha!" energy that tainted tons of friendships in my youth.

I think part of that annoyance comes with the fact that there are canonically very gay characters in the franchise already. Two senshis are literally lesbians. They include a third one (non sexually tho) in a rainbow family construct to raise a reborn senshi. You have gender switching senshis. It is quite versatile as it is. For what it's worth, I am talking about characters who canonically have straight love interests in the main story or in some side story.

But that being said, if you find strength, support, or comfort in your headcanon and interpretation of any fictional character being a closeted gay, that's obviously great and more power to you. If this is what you need in your life that's absolutely fine.

  • The First Daughter has been doing “a lot of reflection on how I want to live, how I think people are increasingly wanting to live.”

Her conclusion: We all want to hide away on some abandoned Mediterranean island that we discovered after jumping off a friend’s boat and swimming to shore. And now, Ivanka is working to “build something that’s a tangible manifestation of that” by constructing a $1.4 billion luxury hotel complex on an Albanian island.

The First Daughter dreamily described how she and husband Jared Kushner initially found Sazan (“We swam to the island, we went for a hike, barefoot all the way up to the top,”) and have, over the course of several years, “developed the opportunity to help realize it’s potential and transform it.”

    Good God.

  • But why the massages? Serious question

  • That's an interesting take. I worked in a pharma startup once and they were grinding cutthroat bitches, but yeah, they were very focused on what they wanted to achieve. The most unethical thing - apart from absolutely ignoring human decency and worker's rights - was probably exploiting funding for Covid research for cancer research. To be fair tho, it was the early days of Covid and their initial cancer target was structurally similar to a molecule in sars cov 2. And the CEO slept like 3 hours a day and was always one of the first ones to turn in applications for some funding contest, which is why he often got them. You have to get the money for your work somehow. And we did use the money for the development of the covid drug, it is just that we also used it to run the same tests and get equipment/reagents for the cancer targets.

  • The results of my master's thesis were used for two papers in Nature Communications. So much of the data was fudged and I was either asked to leave out data points, sets of data that didn't fit the hypothesis, or I was looking how my supervisor just deleted numbers until it looked good. I was so incredibly embarrassed and angry. I declined the offer to do a PhD under the same supervisor. Oral gavage yourself with your dick my dude.

  • Dear god, who would make such a video and why would people want to watch that? And where would they be able to watch that, do you happen to have a link in case I find someone дебил enough for wanting to see it?

  • Damn ._.

  • Well, I am no expert in samuraiology, but I can very well imagine something like "I am Bankotsu, wrath of the Eastern lands, destroyer of flesh and reason, fear me and my banyru for its blade is sharper than the devil's sword, I have killed many great fiends for see I carry the head of Jakostu the gazing snake warrior, and I will soon be carrying your head home to my great master"

Basically casually dropping C's name. Like, that's what I'd do if I were B. (Except I wouldn't die of course as I would be the strongest and greatest warrior to ever live and I will definitely destroy my opponent.)

Edit: for the scenario of A and B dying I'd assume the villagers or accompanying vassals would be able to tell the tale and who's who. If everyone gets annihilated by an ancient nuke like attack then, well, bad luck I guess.

  • I've learned on the Sailor Moon subreddit that these long transformations, introductions, and yelling out your attack name and your own name that you often see depicted in anime actually stems from samurai culture. Samurais would have people helping them change for a fight right before the fight (transformation) and it was considered manners to introduce yourself at length to your opponent, so that if they brought your head home, they could say who it was whom they defeated - and vice versa.

Considering the power rangers are somewhat american and japanese and produced by toei, it would align with that idea.

(yes I know, I must not mention reddit here, but it's really such a wholesome community in that one sub, please keep the hate out of r/sailormoon 😭 )

  • They do, they have breast tissue, even if very little. Which also means that men can get breast cancer.

  • I was snoopy at a fair. The requirement was "be 160 cm or shorter". I am 161. I've never felt that one centimeter more.

  • No need to try to win if you just annihilate humanity so that you will have been the last president ever

  • Maybe somewhat like a mandatory exam that you have to take at 18 (+/-) would help. It would, however, exclude a chunk of disabled people.

As a side note, I'd argue if you have lived in a country for 5 years and have no intentions of leaving (i.e. you have a job, your kids are in school) you should be able to vote for the country you are residing in.

And vice versa, if you move away, you keep your voting privileges for 5 years, no more. I still cannot believe that voting based on citizenship is a thing in the 21st century tbh.

  • Yay, now I can open the first image and zoom in! The lil' heart on Pluto 💜 thank you!

I was using standard firefox btw. The two other pictures that are cut outs can't be zoomed or opened, in case you want to know!

  • If it's of any use to you, I cannot zoom in on the website (in mobile mode), neither on the pictures, nor on the text. My guess was that this was a feature to not copy your work? On my phone, this ends up being too small to be readable. But I'll assume you did my boy Pluto justice.

What was the best Christmas you've ever had?
