  • Maybe they are planning to take back that spectrum they gave to Boost/Dish on a pinky-promise that they'd actually become a competitive network, during the Sprint and T-Mobile antitrust case.

Which would fit with the FCC's increasingly mob-like behaviour under Trump.

  • I've seen less whining about downvotes, "you can't say x on y subreddit" meta comments, and general persecution fetish stuff. Probably just due to less people, but it's still a relief not to have to see it constantly.

  • Everyone's life is different. Some people spend more time working but have more opportunities for breaks, and others have shorter hours but more a clearly delineated work-life separation where they must be working through the whole period. There are people with a large amount of responsibilities outside of work, and others that have little to none.

Anyway, it's not true for all but many people do have the time they just choose to spend it on other types of entertainment. Sometimes consciously, other times because TV and social media are the path of least resistance, even if it's less satisfying.

My suggestion is to consider a Steam Deck and use the suspend function readily. You might not have hours to play, but maybe you can pick up 15 minutes here and there, which is more satisfying then you might think.

  • I’ve been thinking recently about whether Oz would have been better as a PA senator, hindsight is a bitch.

He's probably doing more damage as head of Medicare and Medicaid then he would have as a senator. Maybe both would have happened, but there was more opportunity for him to fall out of Trump's graces if he had been in government for a few years.

  • Smart is fine if and only if:

    • Not the only way to interact with the device
    • Supports open, local-only protocols like Zigbee or Matter
  • It's just saying it's not supported, not that it doesn't work. Depending on your country, I doubt that warranty voiding claim is enforceable either.

  • Also, if you get one of their units that has an ARM chip inside instead of an intel one, there is basically no chance you’re ever going to be able to use anything other than the software that they have by default.

Their x86 models are fine as you imply, just avoid ARM and you can install any OS you want.

  • RFK Jr + Dr Oz + this nutbag.

Truly, the adults are in charge now.

  • "Dying is a liberal hoaxxxxx!"

  • Don't worry, they'll change their tune once they get their marching orders from Fox News et al. They are nothing if not utterly predictable.

  • I use it for my self hosted apps, but yeah, it's rarely useful for websites in the wild.

  • It's not always takedowns either, just the developer deciding to nuke their own repos. Real annoying, although it's making me more vigilant about forking/mirroring important repos.

  • It differs by Western country at least as well. Australian Gen Z men for instance are shifting left, just not as quickly as women.

To be honest, the whole narrative about Gen Z is overly focused on men, and the seismic shift of Gen Z women to the left should not be ignored. But belittling and undermining the views of young women is certainly not a new thing.

  • Honestly, we need to reform our economic system and not continually rely on fertility to solve all of our problems.

I'll add that even those incentives probably won't help, as fertility declines are strongly associated with education levels and money (and women's liberation in particular). Give women options and unsurprisingly, some will choose not to have children.

  • That one really got me. Göring, with his mouth full, asked what was so funny, and Hitler said, “I was just telling him about the time my dog had diarrhea in the Reichstag.” Göring remembered. How could he forget? He loved that story, especially the part where Hitler shot the dog before it got back into the car.

Funny and fitting, given Kristi Noem's history of killing dogs.

  • I watched it for a while, but it just got stupider and stupider with every season. It's a very American show, and it feels like conservative pandering much of the time (even though the show runner isn't a conservative from what I hear).
