It’s to identify anonymous people online and track their activities. Eventually you may fill something out and become known and they’ll continue tracking you but as a known entity. Often this is used for marketing, but also for your convenience.
Lemmy mods, at least in Lemmy World, often police the will of the community. If there is a user who much of the community disagrees with, whether they are being abusive or not, they will block them just to maintain the echo chamber. If that’s the kind of society you want, then you definitely need mods.
Depends what kind of society you want to have. People can police each other. You’ll always have bad actors in society, but you may not want to be on the frontlines of policing them. Especially when you’re talking about groups of bad actors vs. an individual. Ideally, you would live in a society where there is economic and social equality and people don’t have a need to commit crimes upon each other, but that’s a fantasy world. You could have a society brainwashed by religion but that’s not one of equality depending on who decides the rules.
Small community, probably less need for police. The larger the population, the more difficult it becomes to manage crime.
You might be asking the “are people inherently good or bad” question and unfortunately the answer is people are human, and humans are animals.
You’re doubling down and inferring people’s genders/identities based on their sexual preferences just to misdirect a trans-phobic dog whistle towards somebody who you disagree with. Yikes. Didn’t mean to get you so fired up. No need to hit the panic button. We’re just talking here.
Apologies, they’re not immune to transmisogyny either, in the same way cis women are not immune to misogyny. Parents are often the leading culprits in teaching or allowing misogyny to develop within their children. That’s mothers and fathers.
When I say misogyny I’m referring to all misogyny. Trans women do not exist in a vacuum.
The internet doesn’t have to follow you around. You can decide to shut if off. Talk to friends and family. Go out in nature. Find a therapist. Sure, people should be nice, but individuals also have a responsibility to themselves to take care of their mental wellbeing.
Lemmy isn’t as trans-woke as it used to be. At least Lemmy World. All the major communities are basically Reddit. And the mods are just as power trippy.
Ah you’ve got an axe to grind. Good luck. You’re gonna need some real sound arguments to get through this crowd. If what’s best for the child is what matters there should be more social services to support parents so they can be the best they can for their children as well as services and aid for children as they grow up.
What’s best for a child is to be with their mother, even if mom is a drug addict. In today’s world we often force women to have babies and then rip them away from their mothers to punish them and then wonder why a motherless adult that had gone through the foster system is struggling to be a productive member of capitalist society.
Fighting for what’s best for the child doesn’t stop after they’re born, otherwise why even bother? Just abort them. And without support, abortion can very well be what’s best for a fetus, or a bunch of cells.
Want less abortions? Make raising a child and being a good parent financially and logistically easier.
I think this has popped up 3 times for me in the last week
