Reddit sucks

  • Yeah ur right. It’s like talking to a robot.

  • For sure. I subscribe to some of their communities. What I should have asked was which instances are not tankie echo chambers, and amongst those are there enough communities and activity.

  • You’re inferring a lot. I just said I wanted to impress people with my drone skills. Never went past that. Didn’t say I would kill anybody, destroy anything. I just want people to know how good I am at flying drones and you gotta make it political.

  • Yeah that makes sense, but that has to mean that users see an upvoted post and give it credibility without thinking for themselves whether they agree with it or not.

  • What are some good non-mainstream, non-tankie instances that have a variety of communities and decent user interaction?

  • Totally fair. I’ll update the post.

  • I think the extremes are overall wrong but have whispers of near future truth and foreshadowing of distant truths. Once resources become truly scarce globally we’ll see some of the Armageddon set in fueled by the technology we have at that time, but it’s a lot slower moving that doomers communicate.

  • Do what you like/love in public or group settings. When talking to people, really listen to them and take it in. Be interested in what they’re saying and who they are.

Give people grace to be imperfect. You’re not gonna meet your bestie all the time, but you might meet people that you enjoy being around to some degree. Don’t have to agree on everything. In fact, be comfortable sharing spaces with people that you don’t agree with. Engage with people from a neutral and inquisitive perspective.

Doing what you like in public/group settings helps filter out some of the people you may not get along with.

    Good luck and have fun!

  • People said the same about the internet.

  • Yeah such a silly question. It’ll get better and usage will shift towards specific use cases but new generations are gonna grow up with AI. Not going anywhere.

I don’t understand why people don’t think about a future where we can all run our own LLM’s locally and more boutique companies doing things more ethically. Just love to have an axe to grind.

  • That’s real. There’s also an antique shop by me that I regularly see exact items I’d seen at goodwill being sold for double the price.

  • But then JD Vance. He knew what he was doing.

  • Dumpster diving. That used to be MY thing! Now I gotta compete with every Bryson and Zayden for rock hard scones and the least soggy Gruyère and prosciutto muffin. Poverty sucks.

  • For sure. You could absolutely create and train a model ethically. It wouldn’t be nearly as useful in many aspects, but it would be gen AI. From an environmental perspective, I guess you could ask yourself the same thing of CPU intensive gaming. People play games for hours using up similar, often more, electricity as a small locally run LLM.

  • Need this in black 🔫

  • Wow they look like a lot of fun

  • Step on a crack…

  • Some, not all, Lemmy World mods

  • That sounds counterintuitive
