  • Wow it makes me so happy that others recognize the value of two bookmark ribbons. You often want to make a side and a main, or the recipe points you to another page. Paper bookmarks just fall out.

How exotic are the ingredients? I imagine I might have trouble sourcing them.

  • Thats interesting and its pretty sizable with about a million words swiped. I'm not sure what heliboard is doing differently.

  • There is no live telemetry, you just email them the data when you are done.

  • Yeah absolutely for the transit data. All the wrong people already have my data, I would happily donate my data to the right people.

  • Phrasing

  • This has been a benchmark for too long. They are definitely training for it.

  • From the article:

     text

    involves these nine principles:

Wherever possible there must be independent confirmation of the “facts.”
Encourage substantive debate on the evidence by knowledgeable proponents of all points of view.
Arguments from authority carry little weight — “authorities” have made mistakes in the past. They will do so again in the future. Perhaps a better way to say it is that in science there are no authorities; at most, there are experts.
Spin more than one hypothesis. If there’s something to be explained, think of all the different ways in which it could be explained. Then think of tests by which you might systematically disprove each of the alternatives.
Try not to get overly attached to a hypothesis just because it’s yours. It’s only a way station in the pursuit of knowledge. Ask yourself why you like the idea. Compare it fairly with the alternatives.
See if you can find reasons for rejecting it. If you don’t, others will.
If whatever it is you’re explaining has some measure, some numerical quantity attached to it, you’ll be much better able to discriminate among competing hypotheses. What is vague and qualitative is open to many explanations.
If there’s a chain of argument, every link in the chain must work (including the premise) — not just most of them.
Occam’s Razor. This convenient rule-of-thumb urges us when faced with two hypotheses that explain the data equally well to choose the simpler. Always ask whether the hypothesis can be, at least in principle, falsified…. You must be able to check assertions out. Inveterate skeptics must be given the chance to follow your reasoning, to duplicate your experiments and see if they get the same result.

  • I have never looked into the details of an OCR, but if it's a classifier it should give the it's confidence in being a 1 or L so you can start with the low confidence characters.

  • Lol that's a nice catch

Edit: maybe "peer at eFrance" or something that makes more sense in french.

  • They aren't wrong

  • Hell yeah!

  • They give some justification:

    https://github.com/hirsimaki-markus/seapie#why-not-pdb

Overall, pdb is ok but it felt rough for the novice I once was. pdb asks you to learn a small debugger language on top of Python and interaction with your code requires a separate 'mode'. In my opinion the correct specification for debugger user experience is that 'it works like i imagine it should work' and seapie tries to achieve that.

  • The online communities are typically great. If you get really stuck, LLMs can be nice for dealing with your specific confusion.

Edit: ... but it's better to ask the community so others can benefit from the answer.

  • I went here: https://peertube.gravitywell.xyz/c/benjordan/videos

Then I clicked the subscribe button.

Then I entered the url to my peertube account.

Then it opened the peertube app to my account and I had to hit subscribe again.

Not painless but not bad for being federated.
