There are still some other things that can be done federally to help. If they change the size of the house (determined by legislation not constitution), it also changes electoral votes for states. Electoral votes are based on house + senate seats per state
On its own that makes the electoral college much closer to representing the population of each state
I would also presume it likely would also make the popular vote compact way closer or cross the needed majority of electoral votes. Though I haven't done or seen any analysis on that directly so not 100% sure because the ways seats are appropriated can be funky and non-linear

One piece worth noting is that there intentionally is no dem running in this race. It's only a republican and independent, so no need to worry about anyone acting as a spoiler here
I think a lot of people are sleeping on this race. People have kind of expected it to start moving towards republicans as undecided decrease. However in the in the limited public polling, the race so far has stayed close to statistically tied as undecideds slowly decrease (though still pretty high number)
They aren't comparing directly to 20 years ago, they are comparing the delta between years. Saying that it's the largest drop between two consecutive years when you look at the past 2 decades
Not sure what you're saying here since that would make the drop larger? The US population is still growing. The US population grew by an estimated ~0.5-0.6% between 2022-2023 and another ~0.5-0.6% between 2023-2024 (the two periods mentioned in the article)
Wish we actually covered crime better in the news. The public perception of crime rates has been out of sync with actual crime rates for decades, largely due to how crime is portrayed in the media
Or another interesting thing is how people are more likely to think that crime is up in the US overall, but not as much when they look at where they live
Not necessarily. Nebraska's single split electoral vote also only determines winner or tie in some election maps. If WI + MI +PA go blue and at least one of NV, AZ, GA or NC it would push it above that
