  • I will make sure you to go back and tell her!

  • I'm a bit oblivious, but I'm not an AI. I think you're very openly lying ... But I'm not sure.

  • When I was but a teenager, I once very briefly courted a pagan person who asked me "what do you think 'heathen' means?" I didn't know the correct answer - neither the dictionary definition nor the one she wanted - so I said something like "someone who disagrees with the religion of the person speaking the word."

She responded, in what I now realize was a condescending manner, that it actually meant "people of the hills." I didn't research it at the time but, looking it up now, I can't find anything to support that claim.

  • Yeah, but it seemed like they didn't really understand the reasoning behind it, so perhaps someone more authoritative should be consulted.

  • Someone should talk to TMBG about this.

  • I remember reading that polar bears are invisible to IR, which initially interested those interested in stealth; however, apparently the relevant parties lost interest once they found out that the invisibility was only within those wavelengths.

A very short while later, possibly even the same night, I watched Hulk Vs. In that, a polar bear is distinctly shown as visible on an IR camera. I thought it quite the oversight.

  • I recently pulled out my previous laptop that I'd used for several years before getting my current one. I don't remember how long I'd had the previous one, but it's been quite a few years.

While working on my project with that laptop I accidentally bumped it and knocked it off my desk. Reflexively, I grabbed for it and managed to catch it by the corner of the screen.

And that's how I found out my laptop had a touchscreen.

  • Many employers don't give you a choice. Mine did when I started but took it away a few years later.

  • Oh, the one that was successful was a huge number of years ago. The other that wasn't was fairly recent, but I'm canny enough that I blocked them early. Thank you for the advice though.

  • Ahhh, I apologize. I had just woken up from a nap and misread

Honestly I never bothered to figure out how but gave always been curious if anyone has me tagged

... as indicating that you hadn't bothered to figure out how to check what people had tagged you. My mistake!

Just so you no longer have to wonder, I'll figure out something to tag you.

  • I have blocked a very few people, but mostly because they tried to scam me with various levels of success.

  • Not to say that I've never done it, but I don't use them for negative things very often. I just like to remind myself of things. For example, I've started a few Lemmy friendships that then moved to one messenger or another; I have those users tagged with their first names so I'm sure to notice when a post is by a friend.

Or, back when I used Connect, I had quite a few tags; a lot of them were because a user said something interesting about themselves of which I wanted to make note. One that comes to mind - though I'm not sure if this person is still around - was a user who said "I'm just a construction worker with a camera" so I tagged them as such.

  • FWIW, since tags are stored client side and Lemmy itself doesn't support creating them, I'm pretty sure you can't see what anyone else has tagged you.

I also wasn't on the block list, but I mostly avoid discussing politics here, so that makes sense.

  • I mean, it was an interesting movie and is thematically appropriate.

  • Can you turn off the stupid BEEP BEEP BEEP so that it doesn't yell at you for unplugging it when the actual problem is that it just wasn't in the mood to run anymore?

  • TPM uses Tesseract?

  • What food do you think of as nice?

  • Most of my tags are pretty specific, but there are a few for which I've forgotten context as well. Back on Connect I had a user tagged as "no tire kickers" and I only very, very vaguely remember why.

  • I can see how it would be, but I think you and I use tags differently.
