  • There is a weekly thread on the books com about what everyone is reading you may want to check out.

    This weeks post

  • I just started He Who Fights with Monsters recently and I'm already well into the second book. Good shit.

  • Most sports shops these days sell them, I'd advise going for a softer foam to begin with if you havent done it before. You can also use things like tennis balls or just massaging with your hands is going to help improve the situation if you are not doing any of that kind of work.

Probe around with your thumbs or put pressure on different muscles and try to find the places where it is hurting and the muscles feel twisted and that is the area you want to concentrate on.

For me with knee pain it is where my quad comes in to meet the knee on the inside of the leg that causes me all of my issues but that won't necessarily be the same for you.

  • Foam roll! Most knee pain in my experience is from tight / twisted muscles in the upper leg. Just make it a habit to foam roll every single day.

  • I haven't but will check it out, thanks for the recommendation. I also didn't know that about the MRI scans.

I will feed them at any opportunity and always have fresh water in my garden available for them (and the other birds).

  • Pigeons.

We domesticated them and then just discarded them once they were no longer "useful" to us. Now people see them as "sky rats" and are generally pretty shit towards them.

I think they are one of the best birds!

  • I really want to use gadgetbridge but with my watch it just stops syncing after 2 - 6 activities and gets stuck in a loop of trying resulting in me having to basically reset everything and start again :(

  • I picked this album up purely on the art and the name of the album, not knowing of Refused at all. I was not disappointed!

  • I just finished Utopia yesterday and it was great! It is a shame that it ends after the second season however :(

  • Hey, don't bring me into this! ;p

  • If it is Heritage Auctions and WATA then it is corruption. This game is never worth that amount and no one has actually bought it for that amount it is just an ongoing scam and any "publication" reporting on this trash as if it were anything else should also be considered compliant of this obvious market manipulation bullshit.

  • Mate. You ain't that big.

I don't know what country you are from but you weigh in around 118kg which really isn't that much in the grand scheme of things and unless you are going to go to a sketchy as fuck place you are going to struggle more with getting a pair of shoes to fit you than your weight.

Just look for a bouldering center near to you, where I'm from you don't need to pay memberships or anything like that. Just find a place, probably book a time slot then rock up and try it for yourself.

Every place I have been supply shoes to rent but that may be more where you have an issue so may be worth asking ahead if they are able to supply you with ones your size. The shoes make a lot of difference to your experience so I recommend using them.

Every place I have been will supply you with a brief tutorial if you haven't been there before with their rules and then you just knock yourself out and climb. Maybe they do have their own "culture" if you go regularly and start climbing with other people but this is nothing like martial arts. You don't need a partner and that trust of training and sparring with someone you can just climb by yourself and have fun. I've been many times and bar the staff not spoken to anyone at all so if there is some kind of culture I never experienced it :D

Go give it a try man, it is fun!

  • Your analogies make no sense either.

I presume the headline is alluding to how eventually people accepted cars are better than horses but then your "better" analogies make no sense.

Auto vs manual, neither is "better", it depends more on situation and personal preference. I'd take a manual over auto any day personally.

Power steering vs not again depends on application. I'd rather have no power steering in a little sports car and get more positive feedback but would rather power steering on some heavy unwieldly vehicle.

A map vs sat nav bullshit. I'm guessing more people would argue the latter being "better" in this case but there are plenty of people who would rather read a map and know exactly where they are rather than blindly follow shit.

So yeh I really don't understand what you are driving at with your analogies and don't think they work for the context unless I'm misunderstanding :)

  • I mean, you don't have to buy those absurdly expensive single cards to have fun. I bought my first cards in 1997 and have been playing on and off since then. I have only ever bought pre made decks or booster packs, not once have I even been tempted to buy some stupidly expensive single card.

You can buy a starter pack that comes with two decks for you and a friend to learn to play with for like £15 - 20.

I won't deny some of the shit it out of control expensive but you don't need any of that trash to both learn to play and have fun with it!

  • That suits me, I couldn't care less about the smart watch crap that is included on most of their watches, I have it for the fitness tracking. So even better!

  • Appreciate the replies and definitely going to look into this watch a little bit more. I like the aesthetic of it and the fact it still has buttons as that is an absolute must for me.

It seems like I record more activities than the average person so probably can't get as much life out of it but even one extra day is a 50% improvement over what I get right now!

  • Just had a look at this, interesting, although it is bolstering its battery life with solar power.

Do you have real world experience with it? Does it last as long as it claims? I have to charge mine every 2 - 3 days as it is right now.

  • Judging by all the replies it seems like the Venu watches have exceptionally good battery life in comparison to all the forerunner models I have had!

  • That makes more sense I guess as I know the GPS is a major battery drain. Maybe that model is also better with battery in general as I know for sure none I have ever owned would last that long just using it as you do. :)
