  • OpenOffice has more or less been dead for a while. Check out LibreOffice, its spiritual successor, or OnlyOffice (which people have opinions about because it's Russian developed [I think the guy is actually Latvian]).

Also, my vote is for Bazzite. Gaming based and works out of the box with constant updates as long as you restart your computer with easy rollback if something goes wrong. Hard to break your computer, but if you like tinkering it'll have to be containerized.

Desktop is an important choice for look and feel so check out the difference between GNOME and KDE the two main variants.

  • I think it was on the verge of going blue back in the early aughts and then they gerrymandered a majority for themselves ever since.

  • No, I think you should have done what you did. In this day and age, you can't really tell any more.

  • Same with Mandrake, though I can't remember what version number.

  • I installed it on my SteamDeck and have its non-gaming sister on my laptop and I love it.

  • They both were rather hoopy

  • Election, yes. Fair election, no.

  • The major problem—one of the major problems, for there are several—one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them.

To summarize: it is a well-known fact that those people who must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it.

To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.

    – Some hoopy frood

  • Seconded on do it. It's a lot better than it was even a few years ago.

  • Same story but a little further along. Maxed out atomoxitine, and now on 30mg of Vyvanse. Starting my morning with an amphetamine and a cup of tea and I could take a nap. But focusing has been so much easier. I still hyperfocus, but at least now I realize I'm doing it. Also, I can listen to audiobooks now, which has been great. YMMV obviously.

  • We started finding out with the first run of Trump that our government still operates on gentlemen's agreements and the pony express being cutting edge technology.

  • The Fediverse is "hard" because you have to pick a server. And that's apparently enough to stop normies from going any further.

  • Same thing during covid. If we stop testing, our numbers aren't getting worse!

  • I got mine recently in a dxent aized city and while there are plenty of nodes popping up on the map, the local channel is pretty quiet. Is that normal?

  • He's mine! I saw him talk when he came to our community center. It was refreshing having a politician who seemed ready to actually make positive change. Because after our last system of government, we definitely need it.

  • Thanks!

  • You have a CNAME record that points service.my.domain to machine-that-hosts-caddy.ts-domain.ts.net, and with tailscale enable it hits the caddy server and then reverse proxies it to the machine:port of "service"? Which may or may not be the tailscale IP address and port?

  • I mostly use it to keep track of what I read as opposed to a social media platform. I do follow some people that are on the same instance but mostly on the off chance anything looks interesting.

  • No! We should court the center vote! It worked in the 90s and it'll work again any day now!
