  • Is it like when Iraq tried to kill W's dad?

  • This is useful for dispelling the hype around ChatGPT and for demonstrating the limits of general purpose LLMs.

But that's about it. This is not a "win" for old school game engines vs new ones. Stockfish uses deep reinforcement learning and is one of the strongest chess engines in the world.

EDIT: what would be actually interesting would be to see if GPT could be fine-tuned to play chess. Which is something many people have been doing: https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&q=finetune+gpt+chess

  • Two things are true at once:

    • the Democrats fucked up
    • the people who voted for Trump fucked up

  • The deportees should go all Amistad on their ICE asses.

  • Incomplete. The full phrase is actually:

Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo.

(The buffalo from Buffalo that buffalo (i.e. bully) buffaloes from Buffalo, buffalo (i.e., bully) buffaloes from Buffalo.)

  • Invest in companies making filling materials 🤡

  • A culture that obsoletes electronics every couple of years and enshittifies services every couple of other years cannot be seriously talking about MMIs/BCIs.

  • By the way, Ciril's deranged proclamations of "holy war" are ridiculous. Ukraine is also an Orthodox country.

  • Very interesting, but also very lazy reporting. They didn't ask Ukrainian-American Orthodox for example what they think. Ciril's "holy war" screetches are insane, when Ukraine is also an Orthodox country.

There are thousands upon thousands of Orthodox Christians in the US, yet the only non-Russian-aligned perspective in the whole article is this:

Elissa Bjeletich Davis, a former Protestant who now belongs to the Greek Orthodox Church in Austin, is a Sunday school teacher and has her own podcast. She says many converts belong to "the anti-woke crowd" and sometimes have strange ideas about their new faith - especially those in the Russian Church. "They see it as a military, rigid, disciplinary, masculine, authoritarian religion," Elissa says. "It's kind of funny. It's almost as if the old American Puritans and their craziness is resurfacing."

    (RIP Elissa's inbox btw)

It's annoying to see the crazies monopolize the report. This is also American Orthodoxy:

  • Don't ask me, a random guy on the internet. Ask your elected representatives, your intellectuals, your think tanks. Your civil society, man, not some random Canadian online.

  • So make "tax the rich" a culture war thing. Left populism is a winning strategy too.

  • Hey, yanks, until your centre right party (the Democrats) is willing to go all in and run candidates at all levels of government on the slogan of "The Largest Downward Transfer of Wealth in American History", your far right party (the Republicans) will keep repeating this. But if it makes you feel better, go back to blaming Muslims in Michigan or whatever.

  • 20th century fascism was characterized by a thick layer of self importance and respectability to hide a vulgar core.

21st century fascism is just vulgar through and through.

  • A lot of anti-latino racism really boils down to colonial anti-indigenous racism. The fascists are usually fine with white latinos, but something really stirs in them when it's about mestizos, i.e. people whose family tree includes indigenous ancestry. Think of the stereotype of the Latin American gangster, the Mexican cartel rabid dog, like the ones in Breaking Bad. What do they look like? They never look like Ricky Martin, now, do they?

  • Hey Americans, just establish a national identity document already. Belgium, Spain, Germany, Greece and other European countries that are definitely not tyrannies have them. It will fix so many of your problems.

  • Did he take the literal nazis' dicks he's been sucking out of his mouth before he said that?
