  • I dream sometimes of all the regressives in the world getting into a rocket ship and blasting off for some fantasy Planet B, leaving the progressives behind to clean up the mess.

    And we do, and it's terrible, but slowly the world heals.

    Then the regressives realize that Planet B is too far away, and that Earth is actually faring pretty well now, and they try to come back.

    When we don't let them set foot on Earth, they promise to nuke us from space, and then there's this standoff with them in orbit pointing a weapon at the only place that can support their progeny.

  • There's a nice short story I once read about how when people reach their 70s, they develop psychic powers and join a brotherhood/sisterhood of psychics consisting of every elderly person on the planet keeping the horrors of space at bay.

    These horrors manifest as nightmares targeted at children, but the elderly fight the mental battles for them every night. The battles are hours long, mentally taxing, and the wounds manifest the next day as a slow crawl towards Dementia.

    Anyway, this comic reminded me of that before I undestood the sex stuff

  • I like to watch BBC archive videos from the 60s-80s, and so much of it is relatable to today: angst about Russia, the US, China; cost of housing, and groceries; the horrible job landscape; government overreach and under-regulation

    I really think that we as a species havent changed that much over the last 10,000 years

  • I spent the last two decades coding between coffee cups. I loved it. I would bounce of bed each morning with my mind buzzing with ideas to employ in my job.

    Then I had to work in a different timezone. Can't drink coffee in the evening, because otherwise I don't sleep at midnight.

    Every day is hell. I expend significant effort to overcome brainfog and motivate myself to work. It's a losing battle. It's also an eye opener of exactly how much I like what I'm doing, which isn't very much. I wonder if it was just the caffeine all along
