Fair point. But even in the city, cops are just there to document your losses after the fact. Unless you end up in a hostage situation, they're not doing anything during the crime.
If you're a good gun owner, your guns are locked away in such a way that you can't do proper home defense. Unless you're walking around your house in underwear and a holster.
So she shouldn't worry because... she deserves it for choosing a lifestyle?
Oh right, I forgot the rule. People who make choices we don't agree with should have their children suffer. That keeps slipping my mind.
I don't agree with the idea that a couple should strictly split responsibilities and not be able to survive without each other, especially along antiquated gender lines. But I'm still going to have empathy for a broken home with children.

I think you're underestimating the amount of real pain that is caused by the current iteration of society. People aren't supposed to function in a world like this. It's broken and they're suffering. It's great if some small fraction of people can tough it out. Good for them. They're the aberration.
If the person in the US is only willing to pay 70, then the artist will get less than 70.
Sure, the American pays the tariff. That's not the point. The point is that this person wants to spend X total and wants most of that X to end up with the artist. And that doesn't happen if they have to spend half of X to pay for the tariff.
The point of saying "the American pays the tariff" isn't to say that the seller makes the same amount. It's to emphasize that the seller won't absorb that cost, which is the lie Trump is selling.
This is a definition problem I think. I don't use the word "responsible" to mean sole ownership. For example. We are all responsible for the cleanliness of our roads. It is a shared responsibility that we all participate in.
And, I think, we are all responsible for modeling good behaviors for people to emulate.
Only fans is like shopping locally to support small business. If you can afford to, it's better than the big box* stores.
*Yes, I know you're into that.
