  • Best one I've found recently was the top article on DDG search for "peacock mantis shrimp cleanup crew".

The Peacock Mantis Shrimp is a valued clean‑up‑crew addition sold in‑store here in Columbus, Ohio. It acts as a scavenger and algae picker, keeps substrate clean, helping reduce maintenance and improve water quality. Stock 1–2 per 5 gal in a balanced reef or fish‑only system for best results. Difficulty: Easy. Offer varied empty shells. Drip‑acclimate and maintain stable salinity for long‑term health.

There are so many problems with this but I'll start with the one that made me search for a cleanup crew for a mantis shrimp:

    • they are aggressive and deadly to just about anything other than some damselfish
    • minimun tank size is 20 gallons, putting one in a 5 gallon would be terrible for everyone and stoclong 1-2 per 5 gallons would be a bloodbath
    • they are not scavengers or detrivores and do not eat algae
    • they do not clean the substrate other than to kick it all over the place when making a burrow
  • Happened to me. Went on leave specifically for mental health issues caused by work. Fired first day of leave.

  • Kurt Vonnegut and George Carlin were both amazing people that didn't get exposed as monsters. They weren't saints, like Mister Rogers, but they also did not have the advantage of being related to Captain America like Fred was.

  • Al Franken

  • Thank you for the clarification. I knee it was something which made her an absolute fraud and hypocrite with an espoused philosophy built on selfishness and greed.

  • Was Ayn Rand on welfare?

Nothing wrong with welfare, just that she's not the best example of successful seeing as she wrote about rugged self reliance and railed against welfare while also being dependent on it.

  • Stop talking to your mother. She is a bad person and will have negative effects on your mental health.

  • Pedocon theory (search results from noai.duckduckgo.com: The Republican Party and Conservative controlled media are two components of a nation-wide child sex trafficking ring.

  • That gif is fantastic.

  • That's more better.

  • Same span for me, too.

    • Started with always stealing my birthday thunder as a kid.
    • Blatant commercial holiday (in the USA at least) encouraging rampant consumerism.
    • Cultural appropriation; no fucking sleighbells and fir trees in Jerusalem. Pretty trim on reindeer, too.
    • Stole the holiday and trappings from the pagans they persecuted.

    Edit to add:

    • Had to visit family from the born again christian evangelicals on one side and republican supply side jesus christians on the other.
  • Further cementing that there is an xkcd for everything.

  • Never.

I'm 48 and this is only a small part of my home office.

Being an adult lets me make adult money and spend it how I see fit. Always wanted a Lego Star Wars collection. Now I just need better displays.

  • Dick Van Dyke is so pissed.

  • I'd been wearing it to work for 2 years prior to this. I also worked at the same company over 10 years ago in a department with a strictrr dress code and wore it for 3+ years in that role.

The meeting about the kilt happened the day before the c-suite were coming to visit the office from out of town, which I suspect was the real reason for it. Last time executives came visiting I brought up pay equity and raised the matter of inflation, COL pay adjustments, and merit raises when they got done telling us how well the company was doing and that our te am had a direct effect on boosting stock value. I got pulled into a meeting first thing next day to tell me I could not discuss salary with fellow employees, which is a violation of labor law and company policy. My ethics complaint about that was swept under the rug and when I cpntacted the NLRB (national labor relations board) to report the violation of the law the respondent basically said they could file it but the odds of the complaint going anywhere vs a company this size was almost zero.

    Yay USA!

  • The green looks like moss. I really want to make one of these.
