I fear for the safety of my partner (a refugee) such that I insisted we cancel plans to travel to Alaska to see aurora borealis. We are avoiding airports and doing a roadtrip.
We’re driving from the Bay Area to SoCal to visit friends.
Edit: I see this is a trend of people thinking the road trip is to Alaska. We’re driving from the Bay Area to SoCal to visit friends.
I have an irrational fear of heights. That said, I’d rather go skydiving than a lot of other things involving heights because if it goes poorly, I’ll likely have instant death. Your framing of the issue gives me odd comfort. Thanks.
I don't mind a video for a review. But for instructions, I want to be able to easily skim and skip over things that I already know or that don't apply to me.
Be careful about the nasal sprays. I used to use Afrin. When it wears off, it causes the sinuses to swell, leading to a literal addiction to stay clear. I relied on that crap for years. Claritin D (from the pharmacy) works for me now.
I hadn't remembered this in years, but I always imagined myself out there like the Flash and how my older brothers were in the car watching me burn it up and being super impressed. I literally might not have remembered that during my entire adult life. Thanks for reminding me. Although I was more like seven at the time.
Luckily, I think the way that I conduct my life leaves me with very low odds for being on anyone's kill list. I only have to worry about the murderous random killing.
You're fine. I used to think I hated kids until my friends had kids who were awesome and I realized that I hate bad parents. These kids are too young for anything to imprint. You're right that they'll dominate the conversation out of necessity. You don't want to put yourself in such a situation for someone on your periphery of interest and that's fine.
People complain that you're a bad person for not being terribly interested in her life, but she's not a part of yours and you're entertaining the idea that maybe you could have a nice time. As an introvert, I think you're doing a good job of remaining open to the possibility that there could be a solid friendship forming. Even if not that, at least it might be a nice time once.
Others are being assholes. You're fine.
I don't have advice for how to position that you only want to meet one on one, but I don't think you're a bad person for wanting that. It's not like I would want my buddy's 14yo kid to come to record night this weekend. He's a nice kid, but this is time for the middle-aged men to hang out.
