Same with my wife. I even have it set up for my mother, so I know she’s safe. I don’t understand what the big deal is, as you say it’s a safety and convenience feature, it doesn’t mean you spend the day looking at the app to see where the other person is.
It’s not something I would do in a casual or new relationship, but if I’m with somebody for years, I value their safety over my (perceived) privacy.
And for the people who think this would prevent or bust cheating: lol. They can just turn it off and complain of bad reception, or leave their phone in their car, while they “shop at the mall”. Or just get a second phone. This app is not a substitute for trust
Regarding tech privacy: it’s not like
other apps on your phone are not already tracking, I doubt anybody has their GPS constantly turned off. They already know your location, this one feature doesn’t make a difference.
I am from Eastern EU, recently moved to Germany, but traveling often to the Nordics for work. All my devices are set to English, but these LoCaLiZeD websites don’t seem to fucking mind, and I get web pages in some forsaken local language I don’t understand.
If all the fucking tech in the world would just stop gathering all my data to try to guess what I want, and just do exactly what I tell them do, I would be so happy.
I have been trying to separate the truth from the hype, and learn more about how LLMs work, and this explanation has been one of the best one I’ve read on the topic. You strike a very good balance by going deep enough, but still keeping it understandable.
A question: I remember using Wolfram Alpha a lot back in university 15+ years ago. From a user perspective, it seems very similar to LLMs, but it was very accurate with math. From this, I take that modern LLMs are not the evolution of that model, but WA still appeared to be ahead of it’s time. What is/was the difference?

Same. I was looking forward to it so much, loved the first one, but this ruined my mood for weeks during the already shitty covid & lockdown period. And not in a “sad story” way, but in a “I waited years and I got disappointed” way.
Now the negative reaction of general audience to the second season of the show demonstrates how the story just sucks regardless of the medium, but gamers were gaslighted into thinking that only transphobe incels hated the game. Well, I guess not.
I loved the gameplay and the graphics, but the story is just badly written and utter shit. My wife loves to watch me play, but was scratching her head in the final hours of this game, trying to make sense of this mess.
And this would be fine, art is subjective, they took a risk, it didn’t work out - but if you dare point this out, you get branded a hater/bigot/etc and your opinion is discredited. Well fuck them, I paid full price for this game on day 1, and I didn’t like it. My opinion is valid, so I’m going to repeat it as many times as I want to.
