  • Go right ahead. If they actually manage to do it, that will be the end of my YouTube watching. Except on extremely rare occasions. I don't need it badly enough to deal with that.

  • I didn't say they lost half but they lost 20% so you need to have at least 120% today and then you need to account for the fact that you will get more electric devices in the future. How are you going to charge your electric car if you don't have the electric to do it? So therefore you should probably double it.

  • Sounds like you should install double what you think you need. Reason? The panels will start losing efficiency over time and your electricity usage over time will do nothing but grow. That's very common.

  • Oh, I know. And for pointing that out, you will get downvoted as well.

  • No, it can't. It's built into the protocol and enforced. On other currencies such as Zcash, you can turn off privacy if you wish. But on Monero, it's not possible to opt out at all. You either have privacy or you don't use it at all.

  • This is what Monero is designed to fix.

  • So the equivalent of the population of the United States plus 40% are money-londerers. Because somewhere between five and seven percent of the world's population uses cryptocurrency and that's 400 million to 550 million people.

  • I dont think newpipe would protect from this since it still contacts the yt servers to pull the video. Peertube or a VPN would stop this though.

  • Nix / NixOS @programming.dev

NixOS As a replacement for active directory?

  • Nix / NixOS @programming.dev

    virtualbox in NixOS

  • So you mean they want windows to have something that Linux has had for 20 years? Android has also had this since ~2017 too.

  • I can't really address the first part about selling the house on paper and not transferring the NFT.

I figure this thing would have cellular access as well as Wi-Fi. So if your Wi-Fi was to go down, then the cell network would be used instead. And those generally use different ISPs for fiber and often get restored first or dont go down at all since they are commercial contracts. In the event of a total internet cut, it is well known that a house does not change ownership very often, so the lock could be programmed to not accept any new keys for a period like a day. The lock would accept only the old key during that time like a cooldown period

  • Right, but all the lock is doing is checking whether you own the NFT or not. If your house was in NFT, people could see that you bought a house, but not where it was as long as it was generic like house #40000

  • Besides the obvious of your door lock needing to be connected to the internet, and that could be a problem, what else do you see as being an issue with using it for door keys?

  • I do see potential use for them, but not in the way they are currently being used. I could see uses like door keys, tickets, memberships, etc being of practical value, but not stupid little pictures.

  • As crazy as it sounds, some people do.

  • No, i am saying that even though it is volitile it has people who will use it anyway. I am personally a monero user and i buy some on a monthly basis (id really love to get paid in it) and then pay my bills with it, spend it on things i want, and do it all again next month. I really don't have to concern myself with the price because i am organically using it and will get more in a few weeks no matter what the price does.

  • The reason this article exists is because the price as measured in blood money is 26k. If it were 60k a whole different tune would be playing about how great of an idea it was. Actually imo its better now than at its high because moon boys want little to do with it while people who really understand why it exists use it just fine.
