  • Hey Jerkface :)

Completely get where you're coming from. I'll admit I like the occasional saucy spicy comic. I'd suggest we start with the allow tagged NSFW, and then see what happens. If it gets to be too much a new community could be spun off.

I moderate a few, and I've seen people too eagerly try to spin off new communities like reddit, but here it takes a long time for any traction to happen. So while I'm for more communities, spinoffs should be once there is a critical mass, like a ton of NSFW comics.

  • This is another example of me learning in my older age that no matter what good is attempted, people will use it the wrong way. It's good that we attempted to stop or slow nepotism. However people will always be horrible, and they only see it as extra steps to get to what they want.

  • Oh my GOD a Gillian Anderson led Section 31 taking place parallel to DS9?! Shut up and take my money!

  • selfish ignorant people vote for selfish ignorant leaders.

    • George Carlin

The problem isn't the frontman. It's that over half of the voting population voted for him.

  • Saw Mary Jane on Broadway a couple years back, staring the phenomenal Rachel McAdams. It was good, it was very sad, and heartwrenching, and McAdams did a phenomenal job. She has a ton of range, hope she returns to the theater sometime.

  • As someone who had to care for their SO as they vomited multiple times after they were roofied at a bar, from the bottom of my heart, go fuck yourself.

I remember the guy who did it, fucking coward saw my fiance, even saw the ring, and did it when she set her drink down for less than a minute while I was in line for the bathroom. As soon as I walked back he immediately walked away, and I had to care for my fiance while she vomited multiple times, INCLUDIING IN HER SLEEP, she was confused, scared, and in the morning was horrified that she didn't remember. She had only two drinks that night, and I remember almost calling 911.

Fuck everybody who even thinks about doing something so horrible, and I shudder at what could have happened if I had decided not to go out with her and her work friends that night. Fuck guys who roofie people, and the right after fuck guys who think joking about them is funny.

  • That's a fair one, could write a bug for it on GitHub

  • This is a feature. As instance owners when people started posting CP and other horrendous shit we needed something to be able to turn it off ourselves, even if another site or instance was hosting it. If someone posts even markdown with it, we are still in the eyes if governments hosting it, and thus liable.

  • I have no idea, would have to ask them.

  • Claude/anthropic had a massive leak of their source code yesterday. Part of it was it was found that they have been working on a tomagotchi style AI pet.

  • Seriously what is this, lazy trolling?

  • Echoing what other people said, your vices come to get you in your thirties and you have to either decide to give into them, or confront them.

I still struggle with fast food and sitting a lot, but I work out regularly now at 3-4 times a week to counter it, stretch, and now I purposely try to not be sedentary. I walk and bike when I can, avoid endlessly driving or anything else that is just sitting. In the last 18 months there has a been a dramatic improvement to my health with all of my numbers being better than where they were before. I've learned that even a modest amount of trying will do an exponential amount of payoff.

Someone said in a comments field "Why should I spend 30 minutes a day sweaty and miserable" (referring to working out). I've learned that for myself it's not about the 30 minutes feeling miserable, it's the rest of the day where you feel much better. I'm no longer winded going up stairs, I can carry things, I feel like I have some of my endurance from my teenage years back.

  • First of all, they do do this. The AMD "tri-core" chip was a quad core that failed QA. Then most slower chips are in fact from faster chips but also failed QA and have to be underclocked.

However, the real answer is that because if you get a bit flipped, while most things are recoverable, there's a good chunk at the hardware level that is unrecoverable. You've seen this with blue screens. Chips like that wouldn't sell. Bluescreens and panics aren't acceptable to people.

  • I'd be in favor of that. Not an instant ban rule but more of a "No link provided, please use TinEye or something to find the original and update your post"

  • Are there ways this could be implemented though that would not punish people who accidentally posted the wrong one though. You have a good idea, but we also have very few contributors on Lemmy and we don't want to discourage that either.

  • For every idiot who voted for it, an innocent young person is also shoved into it. So I can't hope for forcing it.

However, I'm all for pushing manly men proud boys to sign up for basic. Would teach them what actually serving is like. Not the CoD wet dream they have, but cleaning and replacing tires on humvees.

  • Best answerof the thread. Depends where you live and what is natural to your area. Southwest is going to be rocks and draught tolerant foliage. PNW is going to be mossy and ferns. Midwest a lot of natural grasses. Not sure about Louisiana or the south but I assume just keep a swamp back there. In all cases friendly flora is a good start

  • Which makes me sad, I find their culture really interesting, and I would love to visit, meet them and have a drink, but because of exactly that I'm very hesitant to do so.
