  • I'm honestly not sure if there's much of a difference at this point. Trump's approval has been below 50% since a few weeks after he took office. His net approval has been negative since March. Even the net approval on his most favorable substantive issue (immigration) has been negative since June (Source). If there really was a difference between Trump's approval and that of his administration, I don't understand what that would even mean.

  • Totally. I'm an introvert, and when my phone rings, I pick it up with no problem. I also immediately put it down again with no problem. Works really well, except when people decide to let it ring for what feels like eternity.

  • Having fun/fucking around with something is often a great way to learn about it. Follow your curiosity and see where it leads you.

  • No IGNISU

  • Would be funny if the AI was also burning computational resources while doing this so as to make the lie more convincing.

  • In terms of pure, artificial language generation, this is actually impressive. In terms of the actual utility of AI as a supposed problem-solving tool? Not so much.

  • Based on the overall frequency of people from Southeast Asia vs. the US on Lemmy, my guess is still going to be "US" when people tell me about 3+ lanes on municipal roads, even though I am of course aware that such roads exist in other countries (including my own).

  • I think this is also a psychological effect. Back in gym class, our teachers used to tell us that slower runners should pair up with fast runners for the 100m dash, because running behind someone pushes you to run faster. The same happens in traffic, where simply driving behind another car makes some drivers want to overtake it, even if they're not actually going faster. I also observe this effect when I cycle to work and feel the same urge when I'm behind someone else, until I remind myself that, sure I can push myself briefly to go faster, but do I actually want to maintain that speed afterwards? My usual answer is "no".

  • That looks great! Do you mind sharing your recipe?

  • Oh, I love Gochujang. Goes very well with the sesame oil, too!

  • I hope you're fencing that shit in, because every time I tried to grow mint, it took over the entire pot and the ones next to it.

  • I was thinking about getting a rice cooker. Do you have any recommendations?

  • Smoked paprika is what made me go vegetarian without missing meat. That definitely has become a staple.

  • Also a big sumac fan. And zaatar, which contains lots.

  • Maybe not very uncommon but very underrated!

  • Oh hey, I recently got some as a gift. Do you use it on just rice or what do you use it for?

  • So this obscure research paper gives the density of onion at 0.86kg/l, while this online calculator has it at 0.55kg/l for cubed (!) onion. The latter is probably the better guide if you slice them. So for 10l, I would probably buy something like 6-8kg, see what fits in the pot and use the rest for something else.

  • Why go through the trouble to avoid sugar, when I can just shoot some insulin twice a day and have my leg amputated at age 45? /s

  • Even with affordable health care, which is the norm outside the US, you would still want to eat healthy and exercise.
