yup I went back to IRC. got tired of discord and matrix just wasn't for me. IRC is where it's add. still remember all the stuff from the 90s so it was just like riding a bike. plus I can have it in my Terminal which is a plus.
I have, I mean you kinda HAVE to budget what little you bring in to ensure you don't end up on the streets. and it's not even about saving. saving was just a pipe dream. budgeting was just to ensure rent got paid, bills were paid, and I was able to eat sometimes.
I know people who make 6 figures and can't/won't budget and most live paycheque to paycheque or are absolutely broke just before their next direct deposit. I worked with a guy that made 6 figures and all the time just before payday he'd bum me for cigarettes or ask if I could buy him a coffee or a sandwich cause he had NOTHING. And this was a guy that would always have the latest tech shit, videogames on day one of release - like all of them, nice clothes, etc. just spend, spend, spend.
I've known more people who SHOULD be well off that don't budget and are constantly broke than people who make minimum wage and are surviving.

I mean my parents never had an issue with this. Like when they'd rent movies, I wasn't allowed to watch Terminator 2 until I was like 13 and it was my Dads favourite movie. He put it on "ok, you have to leave the room now we're watching a movie" and I did.
just use one of the libreddit instances like safereddit.com or something. I mean why would you need to comment in a NSFW subreddit? worse comes to worse just use a VPN like mullvad. So many ways to circumvent this.

QuteBrowser. You control it completely. you can add scripts you want, remove stuff you don't want. I have mine tied in with my bitwarden account so easy password management. I have a script that skips all youtube ads and has never been detected by google because technically I'm "watching the ads" it just immediately skips them. it's tied in with greasemonkey so it makes adding customs scripts for whatever site I use a breeze. It has vim style navigation so it's super quick to move around and don't need to use a mouse.
I love it, I'll never use a different browser again. Plus the dev for it is really cool and very helpful.

I must be doing something wrong or using a shit instance cause I can't find one at all but everytime I go to peertube (and I"m not searching just locally) I see like 3 videos get posted a day, most of which are videos about Lies of P or car videos. LIke there's no content.
well this is just silly advice. that's like saying "Don't use Chrome, use Vivaldi" it's all chromium thus it will also disable uBlock.
Get off ALL chromium based browsers. I loved Vivaldi but I haven't used it in well over a year. Switch to FF or a Fork of it like Floorp OR if you're like me and don't like Mozilla use QuteBrowser and never have to worry about anything ever again.
