  • My kobo (10+ years old) has an browse option. Tried it, it kinda works but it's kinda slow. An e reader isn't built for browsing, e-ink is perfect for reading but slow for everything else. So I use my phone for browsing and my e-reader for reading. Since wifi is practically always off and it has e-ink display, the battery lifetime is staggering. That's how I want my e-reader to be.

  • Then I also missed the memo that said we have to be available 24/7

    (24/7 availability only happens when I'm on stand-by for work. That is less than 6x a year, for one week, on a separate phone and they pay dearly for me carrying it around )

  • I usually leave my phone at home when I go out. If I have it with me, everything but the phone ringtone is in silent mode. So unless I get a call I'm not notified on anything. I'll look for message etc whenever I feel like it.

    Nothing sucks. Sure, modern life seems to be build around them, but there often is another way. We managed many many decades without them.

    It's great living your day just here and now with whatever surrounds you at the moment.

    A nice thought, but how to enforce this law? How to prove they gave or sold data? It's easy for them to hide/delete records of data transferred.

    I live on the countryside, I keep a lot just because a store is not around the corner. It's truly remarkable how much can be reused. I need a solution for my waterpump, the flange developed a crack but a suitable flange isn't an easy find (yeah, industrial grade that costed more than the pump itself). Yesterday I found a coupling in my garage that works more than perfect.

    So yeah, that wago is still around.

  • I found a wago during a renovation and replaced it. I'm nuts about nuts. They feel as a better connection to me. It's in how the coil sits so tight it won't let go
