  • Arch Linux Installer Gets U2F Authentication and Bluetooth Support

  • Had to go to the Archinstall repo to answer my question which was why would you skip installing the bootloader?

    Add --skip-boot to allow for bypassing installation of a bootloader #3677

    This allows for workarounds in those semi-rare cases where the bootloader step would normally cause issues, allowing users to manually install one once the other steps are completed.

  • My personal nixos config

    dude, I learned and used NixOS for 2 years and I found it incredibly challenging as some of the documentation is fragmented to the point where you have to delve into several hundreds of others configurations to fix singular problems. Some issues are actually impossible to solve (unless you have months of time off and proficiency with Nix) as NixOS is not FHS compliant.

    In addition, good luck with finding what you want as sometimes it's unsearchable as the devs decided not to distinguish the 3 from each other.Why? I have no idea.

    I haven't even mentioned Nix Flakes which is it's own level of complexity due to it's experimental but recommended status by the community.

    Perhaps it's a skill issue but I feel that I've spent my 2 years of due diligence to know that it's still quite rough on the edges.

    At this point I'm personally moving back to Arch.I'll be experimenting with Gentoo sometime in the near future but at this point it's very unlikely I'll ever revisit Nix and NixOS especially since Valve is doing fantastic work in collaboaration with the Arch Linux devs.

    Please reconsider before posting future antagonistic and abbrasive comments as it does no favors to you nor the community and only paints a target on your back👍

    Nix and NixOS are not easy beasts to tame as advanced help is sparce and individual challenges can be quite niche such that help cannot be readily found.

  • Heads up:

    I've swapped a couple parts:

    • cpu cooler
    • motherboard
    • ram
    • gpu
    • case
    • psu

    If you're able to use ATX parts you can get a cheaper build with better performance. Not sure if this is on the table for you but if size isn't a limitation you might like this setup as it'll provide you the best cost to performance ratio longterm.

    The ram was swapped from 64GB CL30 to 32GB CL30, while the decrease in capacity and increased CAS latency might seem much, the savings you can then spend on a better gpu and liquid/AIO CPU cooler will benefit you for much longer.

    • Ram prices also rarely stick on the high end so upgrading is super easy on that front in comparison to upgrading GPUs.

    If size isn't a limitation, it'll free you from buying an expensive SFX power supply and instead you can get a higher capacity 1000W one from EVGA.

    • While the PSU's motherboard 24pin isn't modular I think the overall tradeoff is worth it in my opinion.

    I also swapped the case to Antec's Flux line as it was a top performer in thermals and this varient also has Back Connect support which opens up future motherboard upgrades if the manufacturers decide back connect is the way to go.

  • I feel like I have to disagree with the title and arrangement of the article as these Linux distros have been around for quite a longer time period than Snapdragon X hardware.

    At this point I feel that it's part of the hardware's manufacturers responsibility to pay and work with the distro developers to get the desired distros working on their new hardware especially since most distros just work on x86_64 laptops nowadays.

  • The belief of a higher order being can bring about a sense of peace of mind that someone higher above is watching over you in addition to the belonging that one can find in like-minded crowds/gatherings.

    This historical collection of beliefs in combination with any random person calling themselves a priest/bishop/evangelist means that people will follow whomever like sheep because they want that security even if built on fragile scaffolding.

    Unfortunately as this system can create a large quantity of easily exploitable people; you'll see many corrupt governments, corporations, and cults try to replicate this in order to milk people for all their worth even at the expense of literally everything good in the world.

    Why haven't governments outside of US restricted access to Roblox?

    It sucks to be a kid whose favorite game is Roblox. At the same time though..maybe other alternatives like Minecraft and VoxeLibre is better as they're decentralized and more likely to be better moderated (in comparison to Roblox anyways as Roblox is infamous for their numerous poorly made decisions).

    As it's still new I'll wait till it's been tested to give it a go myself.

    Either way I'll still upvote this with the hopes that it'll be trustworthy and reliable as it's licensed under AGPL-3.0👍
