  • @Ooops@feddit.org @haroldstork@lemm.eeThank you for your LVM on LUKS suggestion!I was able to get it to work with GRUB and now it works in the same way as systemd where only 1 password input is required🤗

    What I found to work is creating 3 partitions:

    1. [p0] boot
    2. [p1] EFI
    3. [p2] Root [LVM on LUKS]

    after encrypting and creating the required volumes on p2,

    • I formatted both p0 and p1 as FAT32
    • formatted rootvol as Btrfs
      • mount rootvol to /mnt
        • mount p0 to /mnt/boot
          • mount p1 to /mnt/boot/efi

    Now that the base system is done I'm working on a Detached LUKS USB system to further optimize for security after in which I'd be satisfied in knowing that if others use it they'll most likely be safe from most security hazards

  • I've avoided RT thus far because it was incompatible with KVM/QEMU. Am curious if this is still the case.

    I didn't even realize that this was a known problem.

    Guess I can compile and install on my workstation and see if my virtual machines still work.

  • Discord is commonly abhorred by the FOSS community as it's commonly referred to as "the place where information is lost forever" so why would Signal be any better?

    The reason why I bring this up is because you (an hour old account) are posting this on a fediverse forum where knowledge is more readily available for the public to share and learn from.

    So no offence but I personally find it difficult to see as to why anyone should trust this on first glance.

  • Huh in that case I wonder if both instance and defederation works by sort of pausing/suspending the new content updates.

    Sort of like how Newpipe works is that new content could be available on your home/sub feed but won't show up unless explicitly updated (by swiping down). Although for this analogy to work, banning would be equivalent to a filter/block in Voyager although it'll only work for newer content?🤔

    That's my new guess anyways, not sure if it'll help!😅🤗

  • It’s almost like their new posts are “defederated” from my home instance.

    That part is odd and I don't really have a good guess or assumption as to why that's happening.

    The posts they make are in a federated community with my home instance. I’d bet if they replied to this comment, I wouldn’t see their reply. (assuming this comment is even visible to them).

    As far as I understand the system; banned users shouldn't be able to make comments on a home instance their banned from unless something is broken or has been deliberately been changed.

  • If user A from instance 0 is banned from instance 1, then they can't post on any instance 1 posts

    but on instances outside of 1, they'll still be able to interact with instance 1 users as far as I'm aware.
