Canadian, sysadmin, trans rights are human rights, puncha-the-nazis, cats are pretty great, GNU Terry Pratchett.

  • How else is she supposed to climax?

  • I mounted my monitors on wall arms so the cat had more room.

  • I was reading the other day that Gen X technically got the highest lifetime lead exposure. Boomers didn't grow up with it.

  • Unless they are struggling with their weight and self control, and have worked very hard to remove temptations from their workspace. :(

  • Whaaaat they removed wmic?! I used the crap out of that when I did windows admin.

  • I don't think it's dumb to tell people that power buttons often just put computers to sleep now. It's a relatively new behaviour. Until about 5 or 10 years ago power meant power off, not low power.

  • Thought it was Loss, turns out to be Nazis. Great.

  • Chookity!

  • Hey

  • You'll get a lot more exposure to radio waves from your average star than from Earth at a distance. Earth shines brightly in that spectrum but not enough to outshine a star.

There's only one kind of photon radiation. It just varies in frequency and strength from radio to gamma.

If an alien can't survive Earth's radio emissions they wouldn't have made it to Earth in the first place.

  • Oh, that is interesting.

  • Starfleet was pretty much wiped out at Wolf 359, I guess.

  • Pretty much, though I use a lot of jq these days and many tools support json output and input. I'd love to see that paradigm expanded for more Unix tools. Maybe a new kind of pipe symbol for shells that implies strict json objects.

  • Are you gaslighting me

  • Looks like they wanted 'roundish' numbers.

  • Even crazier that it's a logarithmic graph.

  • Yeah, there's grass and then there's grass. Sure. I got no beef with a field of mixed grass that's left to grow, especially if there's mixed native wildflowers etc.

It's the fields of monoculture non-native grass that the Suburban White Dude[tm] wants to obsessively cultivate and that seems to be the goal of parks departments everywhere that's the problem.

My partner ranted to me the other day that she couldn't get a 10m^2 area from a local municipal parks department recently for a Miyawaki forest plot. No reasons, just "no." Very frustrating group of fuckin' boomers.

  • A field of monoculture grass is already destroyed.
