  • I'm hoping to never go to Russia again, but I may have to if I want to finally cancel my citizenship.. absolute shithole, even if you ignore the current political situation.

  • After further consideration, I would also give them a Solar-Powered TV that plays nothing but a Video of Hatsune Miku doing Fortnite Dances

  • There are parts of the world where squirrels are invasive species. For example Grey Squirrels are invasive to the UK if I recall?

Edit, I just looked it up to fact check myself and yeah Eastern Grey Squirrels are invasive to the UK and parts of Europe and are a threat to native red Squirrels and the like. Ironically, they were introduced to the areas they're now invasive in because people liked their aesthetics and wanted to hunt them. People are absolute idiots.

  • We were having pretty big problems with our yarn configurations a few weeks ago because the default npm registry is now blocked for security reasons and we're supposed to only use our own internal registry. The coworker who was supposed to fix it asked his AI whether he can override the configuration for the location for the default registry and the AI said no, so he closed the ticket as "can't do anything about it I guess 🤷". A few days later, another coworker just went and changed that configuration by looking at how custom scopes are defined and using common sense. Worked instantly, we haven't been having any yarn issues since.

  • Something like Stackoverflow is probably the biggest source of code to train a LLM on, and since it's based around posting code that almost works but you got some problem with it, I'm absolutely not surprised that the LLMs would pick up the habit of making the same subtle small mistakes that humans make.

  • Yeah, just hating on iPhones because they're iPhones is stupid. I use GrapheneOS, and their official statement is "Graphene is your best option for security, but if you don't want to fiddle with things and be in an open source ecosystem, your #2 best choice is an iPhone"

  • Put it in the fridge for a few hours, then eat it sitting down in a warm shower.

  • Really? Mine helps quite a bit with focus, but sometimes there are weeks where I forget it exists and just go "huh, aren't I forgetting something?" while walking past the med pile.

  • The brand of rechargeable batteries matters a surprising amount, if your device doesn't play nice maybe try a better brand? My Quest 1 basically only accepts Panasonic Eneloop Pros, I get quite a bit of input lag when using random offbrand rechargeable batteries

  • oh no, that em dash..

  • Yea! I can't get corrupted or turn evil if I already start out corrupt and evil!

  • 0, the tiger can die of old age

  • Holy shit, it actually works!

  • First, I take a long rest. Then, I might nap a bit.

  • Eh, I see no reason to switch to a dumb phone, because I don't think I'm that bad with my current phone. My main User profile on GrapheneOS is pretty minimal when it comes to apps, it's mostly messaging, banking, navigation, workout and music (I should probably move Lemmy and Pixelfed to a different profile, but they both have pretty little potential for scrolling for too long since the new content is naturally limited). The only game on this profile is the one I'm developing as a hobby project lol

All the annoying Apps (Secondary Email, Amazon, Aliexpress, Linkedin, Smartlife, Grocery store coupon apps etc) are banished to a secondary profile that has no permission to run in the background or send any notifications.

  • It's beautiful and very handy, if you use it exactly like they want you to! Getting it to play nice with custom components is so fiddly though ;_;

  • Saving money. I take pride in doing my research and getting the best deal instead of just stumbling into the first store I come across and paying for whatever the sales person talks me into. The latter wouldn't even hurt me financially, it's just a thing of principle.

  • Godspeed! I can't even handle Tailwind yet since I'm so used to MaterialUI's stupid styling system. Gotta break out of those proprietary systems and rawdog CSS one day, but today is not that day yet...

  • pixel? ~~have you heard about grapheneOS tho..~~
