  • doing it in power rangers style lol

  • Windows 11 a newcomer?

Dude it's already like 5-ish years old.

Also, I'm going to be very technical here and I don't care if people hate it. But Windows 10 and 11 both outpaced XP and I believe that once the OS reaches a user login, that still counts as the OS as booted up.

Other than that, yeah it's really a no-brainer why Windows 11 lost in just about every category except the boot sequence, save being behind 8.1

  • Welp, so much for hope.

  • I'm one of those people that actually would rather not know how some technology works so I can retain some level of surprise and admiration. I know generally how a fair number of technology devices, process and functions work but I don't get as excited.

  • Nope, can't go with that. That's how they win, is you doing nothing.

  • The region’s future must be determined by people themselves, free from the shadow of empire

I have a problem with that line. Maduro has been president of Venezuela since 2013. Just, how long would it take for the people there to free themselves? 50 years? Never?

I mean look at the American people, we're no different. We keep talking about revolution, civil war, assassination. We've only maybe have a couple of near misses, but the rest are just nothingburger after nothingburger. We still willingly wake up, go to work, come back home and repeat everyday while we glue ourselves to the news just getting vicariously pissed off and yet we do dick about it. We just grip onto voting like they're rosary beads in hopes things turn around and only then do we proclaim we've done something, only allowing the villains we've elected previously, to get off scot-free.

And even then, that doesn't promise anyone that we won't stupidly elect another dictator of our own.

  • I would rather die in my sleep, than being told I have a certain amount of time to live by.

Because that's what I always saw death as, just permanent sleep.

  • In some ways, I'm not.

In other times, when I want to simply drop cold-hard truths or unfiltered opinions. People lose their minds. We're not ready for those kind of thoughts, both surface web and fediverse, even.

  • I am reluctant to re-visit Half-Life 2 and its episodes. Simply because they were great games for their time and overall classics. I just remember in Episode 2, looking back longingly at the devastated City 17 when you launched the rocket in episode 1. How much reflection I did about the series I completed and the episodes I would complete after.

It was an experience going through those games all the way the first round, recalling all of the hype, the memes, the talks and so much build up. Revisiting it now for me would just be rewriting those memories over.

The Messenger is another. Really loved that game for what it was. It had so much charm to it.

  • RIP to that woman. Very gutsy to do that at the cost of her career's prestige.

  • Plbplbplb is all your reply was

  • Disney+Hulu (only get it for promo deals. I'm on one for $5 a month for a year)

Anything else, nothing else. I'm only along for the promo-rides. You'll never find me spending base amount for any streaming service. I might subscribe to Netflix though on their base plan because I'll just watch it through browsers with ad-block and things will be fine.

  • My brother in christ, that's how they sap your money and make you wonder why you're broke. If you work retail, you'll know all of the ways they try getting your money. Impulse sections around the check-out, impulse sections around the displays. Things sticking out for you to buy.

Oh yes, you will indeed buy new things - but then you're broke.

  • Yeah but all that really does is piss off the purists. Like, it has been tried with Star Wars and to this day, people still bitch about the change in some effects.

  • Neither do I.

The moment I say 'Lemmy' or 'Fediverse', it is over their heads. That's how much work the fediverse itself has go to, to make it more accessible.

  • Good way to end 2025. And I live in IA so hey, good to know something to look forward to in this state.

  • The point of the matter was, is that I knew I never wanted kids and I knew I never wanted to be a part of any custody-drama or interacting with the other parents or what have you. Yet, I was in one because I don't know why and I completely disregarded whatever reason as to why since it was a long time ago, about 13 years ago. I guess I was trying to be flexible because most of my life, I've always had people tell me "well you can't judge so and such unless you've tried it". Well guess what? I tried dating a single parent, so they can eat shit, because it didn't work out for me.

9 times out of 10, I've always had a choice to avoid kids and I continue to do so. Moreso ever after that shitty experience that long ago. That one singular point out of that score of 10, is accounting for when I'm at work and I can't avoid them. So I didn't really need a 'lesson' about what I said, in fact I found it pretty disrespectful because it is putting someone's words in their mouth, even metaphorically. Especially when it's a low-hanging fruit one that everyone largely knows about.

I've already learned that lesson and I'm basically saying - never fucking again. If it can be helped and it most certainly will be given how things in my life are going - never fucking again.

  • I'm wondering how the hell channels like CinemaSins gets away with it. One would think that channel would obviously get taken down with the amount of movie clips that he shows. I know he talks over them and thus may be fair game but, that's still a lot.

  • If I was given the option, against my will despite me deciding to be childfree for my life, as to whether I would date someone who is a single parent or have sex with someone to have a kid with. I would rather have sex with the person to have a kid of our own with.

Never again will I date a single parent, when I already did. She was a single mother and she more or less gave up and lost custody of I think two kids to two different guys. Huge red flag, I know. And I believe that's why we probably did a lot together without child interference. But I know she wasn't perfect herself.

I even had a couple times, been in awkward moments where I was meeting the father of one of the kids. It was just a series of situations I don't ever want to be in again. You just run the risk of being involved in things you didn't ask to have any business to be in, in the first place. If dating single parents is your swing, then by all means if you can prove to be the better opposite than the original parent.

    It's not for me.
