  • https://venngage.com/tools/accessible-color-palette-generator is what I used for the color palette

i took the hex code of the meta logo and inverted it (anti-meta theme) for a hex code of #F9971E and generated a palette. this was one of the palettes. i went with a more monochrome palette for people who may have trouble distinguishing between colors.

as i do not have any relevant visual impairments myself, i cannot comment on the readability/accessibility.

saying “i don’t think this is accessible” is not helpful (you’re not the only person who has said this) as it does not tell me what is accessible.

i myself am severely disabled and unable to work and living in extreme poverty. i came up with this idea, shared it on social media, and asked if anyone would be willing to make a graphic. no one did.

if the cause matters to you, you always have the option to make your own graphic. i literally cried several times making this because i do not have the energy, the time, or a usable device to make this, or the money to purchase anything usable. i made it on my phone on the free version of Ibispaint, which is the equivalent of using ms paint with a trackpad, if not worse. i have shaky hands and painful joints.

as for my migraine, i can’t comment on that, as i have chronic migraines. we are advised to avoid noise and bright screens. if i do that i’m stuck listening to the convincing voices in my head screaming at me to kill myself while still being in physical pain. i prefer to continue to be in pain while deluding myself into volunteering time and energy i do not have trying to make this world a better place only to achieve nothing and to have ended up wasted time and getting shit on for it, while everyone else who does have the time, energy, and resources complains that no one ever does anything.

if i took spent hours on this (yes, this took hours because of how unusable the app is), other people can take a few minutes to explain to me how i can make this accessible, if it’s something they actually care about and aren’t just virtue-signaling. or! they can take a few minutes to make an accessible graphic themselves

  • i’ve heard that - but if signal becomes popular enough with individuals, i imagine businesses would eventually switch over to signal as well

  • could encourage people to move to signal while keeping whatsapp maybe… until one day hopefully no one uses whatsapp anymore :)

  • i think most people just don’t care

i agree - so the question is, how do we make them care?

    https://piefed.social/c/fediverse/p/1897818/how-to-sucesfully-post-about-piefed-on-reddit

i’ve been trying - and seemingly failing - to make people care for awhile. but i’ll do my best to keep trying.

i was banned from reddit for months… maybe close to a year? it seems pretty easy to set off their ban hammer.

mark and the gang built tools to scrape you other account back in the day an add the data to facebook. made it easy to switch. they also made it close to impossible to do the same to facebook. but it would require something like that to get people on to something else.

i was thinking that - and apparently fedibook does allow you to import all your facebook posts :)

wafrn allows bluesky imports… i imagine with activitypub, hypothetically some stuff from threads could be imported, but i don’t know for sure.

pixelfed does allow you to import your instagram account

as for the government stuff… yeah. don’t like it.

    like your username btw

thanks! when new sites i’m interested in pop up, i like to try to get a silly username related to the site name sometimes, although i think piefed might’ve been around for a year before my username? but i kept seeing it mentioned on reddit around the time i joined and i’d never heard of it before, so i assumed it was new (although it is still pretty new in the grand scheme of things, i think :))

  • i used opendyslexic for accessibility (i am not an accessibility expert by any means, so i apologize for anything that’s off)

  • i don’t know if this one is really any better, but my friend suggested changing the layout to something more like this

edit: she suggested more changes, unfortunately what im using to make this is the mobile equivalent of ms paint with a trackpad, so i’m in hell :)

  • fedibook seems really new; i think it’s only been up for a few weeks? but it looks close to facebook, and apparently has an option to import facebook posts

i couldn’t find any screenshots of it, but i took some of my own after making a throwaway account

for me, it just feels closer to facebook design-wise than friendica and diaspora. every friendica instance that has a normie-friendly url seemed glitchy or just flat out took forever to load. before i stumbled upon fedibook, i was thinking about recommending spacehey or bliish (which are also interesting, but spacehey is invite-only right now; can’t remember what i didn’t like about bliish)

  • thank you, but it’s unironically not for me (unless you count the benefits from friends leaving meta)! i’ve never had a threads and i recommend wafrn because i genuinely love it. i do have an insta, but i rarely use it. never used whatsapp… have facebook but i don’t use messenger much; been using signal for awhile. i do use facebook… but again, not very much.

i wanted to do a challenge this month for people to switch their search engines away from google, but then i realized “no meta may” sounds better :) google can be another time…

  • it’s a social media challenge, not a personal one.

i’m happy for you, but the average person does find this challenging. if they didn’t, meta websites and apps wouldn’t be the some of the most visited websites/used apps in the world, and zuckerberg wouldn’t be rich.

  • If you were an educated adult, you’d know that banning drugs tends to cause more harm. You’d also know that some drugs have positive effects on learning, cognition, attention, memory, mood, emotional regulation, and empathy, when used appropriately and responsibly. All of which contributes to a society of healthy and educated adults.

  • Looking after yourself is the first step towards looking after others

that’s been one of my motivations :) i have a wonderful, but very picky senior kitty who has a lot of food allergies and now needs frequent medication. i always worry that if something happens to me, she’ll be put down since she’d be harder to adopt out. not to mention she loves me very much and i don’t want her to be sad. fediverse cat tax?

i would also love to be in a place where i can have more pets and a family someday

and i’ve experienced and witnessed a lot of injustice being as sick as i have all these years. i don’t want anyone to go through what i’ve been through. i’ve thought about getting into politics a lot. and i’ve thought about taking another shot at entering the medical field. not in any position where i can work yet, so i still have time to think about all of that.

  • you know what? funny you mention that - i likely just got below 100kg around this time last year :)

i’ve lost about 39 pounds since may 2024 i believe? 21 pounds since january 2025 i think, and 15 pounds since august after i lost my shit finding out i had gained some lost weight back and my a1c hadn’t budged at all even though i’ve been working my ass off to lose this weight

still have about 18 more pounds or so until i’m in overweight territory and as you can tell it has been sloooooooowwwww. i have a lot of major health issues and for most of this past decade no matter how hard ive tried ive only gotten sicker and sicker and sicker. this is the first year in years where i’ve finally seen more progress in my health rather than regress.

i also have an upcoming appointment to check for endometrial cancer as i have bled almost every single day this year since january 6th and my endometrial lining looks huge but doing a biopsy was pushed off all year because of my age, until the most recent ultrasound where it looked way worse and my doctor was like “haha fuck”. which i know with the weight loss it’s like “did i do this or am i just dying of cancer lmao”. but there have been certain very recent positive changes that, in my very unprofessional opinion, i wouldn’t expect to see if i had cancer / the cancer was getting worse. i hope it’s not cancer, but if it is, my mind and body are in a much better position now to handle potential cancer treatment than they were one year ago. it’s been a very significant year for me. i haven’t felt like i’ve had so many reasons to feel good about myself in a very, very long time.
