  • I think Lemmy is some times so far left to the point of absurdity. If you point out that absurdity people will still downvote you.

    I’ve seen far left folks practically suggesting that Biden isn’t doing enough reign in Israel, so we might as well elect Trump. When I point out that no, actually that would be worse, we should still vote democrat, people will downvote with a straight face. Like what position are you actually advocating for with those downvotes? Some times it feels like folks would rather walk off a cliff than hold a somewhat moderate opinion grounded outcomes and reality here.

  • If he does too much out loud, the AIPAC lobby will back Trump even more forcefully and Jews backing the democrats may feel less motivated to turn out. Netanyahu already wants Trump to win. Democrats are trying to thread a needle. And, frankly, they need to. There is more than one issue in this campaign. Should we let America fall to a literal fascist, see abortion banned nationwide, or lose another seat on the Supreme Court for 20 years because Biden and Kamala didn’t throw a loud enough fit over Israel?

  • That sounds reasonable. What you want to avoid is signing a contract that requires you to make a monthly payment for 1-2 years. If you move of just don’t like the gym it’s a pain in the ass to cancel. I’ve even seen some with hidden fees… like “surprise! we charge you an extra 50 bucks this month for some bogus reason that was buried in the fine print when you signed up.”

  • Pretty much stick to a non-corporate gym like YMCA. Or, find a place that will let you do month to month. There is absolutely no reason why gyms should be requiring a year long commitment. It’s not like they’re giving you some “subsidized” piece of hardware like a cellphone.
